INTRODUCTION The fifth edition of the Singapore Yacht Show once again created a highly convivial, professional setting for our exhibitors and sponsors to meet and do business with Asia’s ever-increasing community of affluent buyers. Brought together in Singapore’s most desirable location, ONE˚15 Marina Club in Sentosa Cove, a diverse programme of events and an exciting selection of yachts and brands provided a first class event which persuaded astonishingly large numbers of visitors to put on their wet- weather gear and defy the rain – and they brought their cheque books with them. The Show has become a highlight in the social calendar of Asia’s elite, and this year approximately half our 11,600 visitors came from overseas, consolidating the Lion City’s growing global reputation as the principal regional hub for yacht and boat buyers. We were privileged to present visitors with a superlative mix of over 80 superyachts, sailing yachts, speedboats, submarines, tenders, and marine craft of all descriptions on display, including 36 vessels over 20m, a spectacle unmatched by any event in Asia. Several of these brands chose SYS for their regional or global model debuts this year, reflecting the strategic positioning of the Show for so many of our exhibitors. The Show welcomed our largest yacht on display to date, the 75.7m Oceanco M/Y Anastasia, as well as the largest charter yacht permanently based in South East Asia, the 69m M/V Saluzi. Princess Yachts SEA offered an outstanding selection of beautiful British-built motoryachts, while Simpson Marine presented a wide range of yachts and boats, including debuts from Monte Carlo and Lagoon. We were honoured to be chosen by Gulf Craft as the regional launch pad for its presentation of the brand new Majesty 105 and the Nomad 65 models; by Van Dieman for the first look at its versatile 5.5m Sport Limousine; and by Spirit Yachts to premiere the beautifully elegant Spirit 65’, S/Y Chloe Giselle. Plus many more. Even with the unfortunate weather conditions, our visitor numbers exceeded those of the year before last, and feedback confirmed that the daily downpours did not deter the serious buyers, with one of our biggest exhibitors, long established in the region, reporting their most successful yacht show for sales in its 30-year history. Continuous, region-wide visitor promotion effort and sheer hard work from our whole team, who have built up an extensive network of strategic business, social and media partners, ensures that those coming to the Show are well prepared and known to be looking to invest in the yachting and boating lifestyle. This year, we broke all past records, with a staggering SGD 30 million value of local, national and global media coverage. New for 2015, our dedicated Singapore Yacht Show App informed and intrigued visitors before they had even reached our gates, and we will continue to develop a range of digital promotions to attract the increasingly ‘online’ clients of the future. Listening to exhibitor feedback, we have adjusted 2016’s Show dates to earlier in the month, 7-10 April, to better sit within the busy yacht show calendar. We will also be introducing a brokerage section to the Show, which will provide a more diverse offering to the fast-developing buyer market in South East Asia. The Singapore Yacht Show 2016 is without question the key event for anyone looking to secure a position in Asia’s leisure marine market. We look forward to seeing you there! MARKETING ACTIVITIES The Singapore Yacht Show marketing team is dedicated to promoting the event and its partners, supporters and participants to both local and international HNW and UHNW audiences, ensuring we attract the right visitors. We understand that the leisure marine market in Asia is maturing and developing, and our mission is to drive that development. We aim to be an open and relevant source of information for the opportunities that yachting and boating can offer to buyers from Singapore and the wider region, whether working with the media or directly promoting to visitors. Our strategy combines informative content marketing with targeted advertising campaigns across a range of media and methods. TARGETING THE RIGHT VISITORS As well as publicising through the media, our marketing team chose a range of partners and key locations to promote the Show to the right audiences in Singapore. Signage was erected ahead of the event in key residential and business hubs, and a promotional film was played on the city-state’s largest LED screen in a central location. A targeted visitor promotion campaign directed at Sentosa Cove’s well-heeled residents, exclusive members clubs and luxury partners ensured that the Show was firmly on the radar of Singapore’s most affluent residents. In a commitment to evolving with new technologies, and marketing opportunities, this year we launched the dedicated Singapore Yacht Show App, which allowed visitors to plan their trip and learn about the exhibitors and yachts before they had even reached our registration.
