But in severe cases, paents can face bleeding, neurological symptoms, and a death rate up to 70 percent. Lassa fever alters platelet funcon and blood clong, but the exact mechanisms involved remain a mystery. Now, researchers are searching for answers. In this EID podcast, Dr. Brian Sullivan, a researcher and instructor at La Jolla Instute for Immunology, discusses how Lassa fever affects the vascular system.
