Shoes and Clothes for Kids Newsletter • Fall 2008 2008 Cleveland Browns Back to School Campaign To Benefit Shoes and Clothes for Kids Increases Awareness and Funds The 2008 Cleveland Browns Back to School Campaign to benefit Shoes and Clothes for Kids raised awareness of the need for new shoes and clothes during a time of critical need for area families. Rock-N-Roll Capital Street Machines Save Host Super Solon Charity the Cruise to Benefit SC4K Date On Saturday, August 9, the Super Solon Charity Cruise rolled into the Solon Commons to raise money for SC4K April 1, 2009 for the first year. Over 550 hot rods, vintage cars and custom built vehicles were on display for spectators. Melamed Riley Advertising Creates 2008 SC4K Promotional Campaign Thank you to Melamed Riley Advertising for creating SC4K’s 2008 Back to School promotional campaign that helped raise awareness and funds for SC4K. Kleats 4 Kids works to provide new or reconditioned athletic shoes to underprivileged youth athletes. Pohly was playing football at Gilmour Academy when he noticed many players on the opponent’s teams were wearing basketball shoes instead of football cleats and was inspired to do something to help. Pohly and his fellow student athletes now conduct shoe drives, recondition used shoes, and raise money to purchase new cleats. The Associate Board of Shoes and Clothes for Kids Luau on the Lake Doubles Attendance and Funds Raised The 3rd Annual Luau on the Lake fund- raiser, organized by the Associate Board of SC4K, doubled in attendance and dollars raised from the previous year. Over 450 Clevelanders spent a summer evening on the lake at Wendy Park on Whiskey Island to raise money for SC4K. In addition to the fabulous lake views, guests enjoyed a Hawaiian-style buffet dinner catered by The Rib Cage, adult beverages, corn hole and volleyball games and music from DJ John Stamper. A raffle featuring unique prizes raised funds for SC4K. Many guests dressed in Hawaiian skirts and leis.
