The Lord Jesus the Blessed Pelican “Pie Pelicane Jesu Domine” At the 12 Noon Mass on Sunday, March 3rd, 2019, Bishop Checchio blessed the new Altar panel with the ancient symbol of the Holy Eucharist, the “pelican.” This symbol dates back to the 4th century and a fresco of it can be found in the upper room in Jerusalem where the Last Supper took place. I will be placing a special plaque on the back of the Altar panel with names of any deceased family members or friends. Every time Mass is celebrated at the Altar of Sacrifice they will be lifted up in prayer - or - if you would like to make a donation as a gift from you or your family that would be possible. Your family would be remembered at every Mass as well. If you would like to make a donation, please fill out the form below and place it in the collection basket or drop it off at the parish center. Donations will be acknowledged in the bulletin. The donation is $100. per name or as a gift from you or your family. Deadline for donations is Sunday, March 31st. Auxiliary Council #6345 The Student Good Citizen Award St. Augustine of Canterbury Columbiettes Auxiliary will once again include in their State Youth Program the Student Good Citizen Award. This award is limited to Catholic females who are seniors in High School, who display evidence of Leadership, Dependability and Patriotism at hole, school and in the community. In addition to the State Award, Our Local Auxiliary will also be offering an additional monetary award. Parishioners of Saint Augustine who are interested in applying for this award should contact Dorothy Cuccinelli at mralcty@aol.com or 908-208-1078, before April 1st, 2019. 2019 Bishop’s Annual Appeal As of February 28, 2019, the Development Office has received pledges totaling $45,940.00 and payments totaling $39,851.25 from 170 parishioners. This represents 31.5% of our $146,000.00 goal. Thank you for your efforts.
SNOW REMOVAL APPEAL FOR ST. AUGUSTINE PARISH While the total amount of snow is down from last year, there have been several snow storms that occurred that needed immediate attention for the school and parish activities. As of March 5th the amount of bills have totaled over $17,000 (with November storm $19,000) and there could be more storms in the future days of March! Unfortunately we have almost lost an entire Sunday collection to pay these bills. L & S Contracting have provided great services since I have been here for the past 24 years and a few years while Msgr. Capano was the pastor. These are the dates we had to clear the parking lot and sidewalks from the snow/ice storms: November 15th storm: (parish family donated $2,000 to pay that bill!!!) January 13 January 18 January 30 January 31 February 11 February 12 February 20 -21 March 2 March 4 And more to come?????
