We believe that building a trained & collaborative workforce ultimately improves our collective ability to detect & respond to wildlife health threats. On behalf of the Australian Registry of Wildlife Health, I am pleased to invite you to be an active part of an exciting international wildlife conservation education program. This is an opportunity to highlight your organisation by supporting an extensive and intensive training program focused on wildlife health and conservation action sciences. The program will showcase your involvement, and help you form national and international relationships across sectors, including universities, zoos, agriculture and environment departments, vertebrate pest controllers, wildlife managers, and wildlife rehabilitators. The Australian Registry of Wildlife Health, a research program of the Taronga Conservation Society, has a 33-year history of providing diagnostic services, resources, and training to wildlife health professionals working towards securing a better future for our animals, our people, and our planet. Building on a formula formed through the highly successful delivery of similar courses in 2008 and 2012, this education event is ambitious and multifaceted. A Wildlife Health & Pathology Short Course, 18 - 22 February 2019 provides a systematic review of the health and diseases of wildlife, and practical skills based workshops. A Wildlife Translocation Health Symposium, 23 February 2019 will unite ecologists and health scientists and contribute to a best practice framework for wildlife translocation sciences. A Satellite Wildlife Health & Pathology Short Course, 25-28 February 2019 in Bangkok Thailand, in collaboration with Chulalangkorn University, will further build international wildlife health and conservation networks. Your support will allow us to deliver a ground-breaking education program to a passionate and engaged audience, in an affordable manner. Support can be targeted towards educational or social events, or directed to scholarships for Australian students or wildlife health professionals from low socio-economic level countries. Contact us to personalise your sponsorship package. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Karrie Rose Registrar – Australian Registry of Wildlife Health.
The Australian Registry of Wildlife Health (the Registry) is unique amongst the diagnostic surveillance community in Australia. The Registry is a small, dedicated research program of the Taronga Conservation Society that investigates the health and disease of free ranging and captive wildlife through both passive and active surveillance. The Registry engages with a large network of partners, including zoos, universities, state and commonwealth government agencies, wildlife care groups, and human health professionals to bring multidisciplinary expertise together to address complex wildlife health problems. The core mission of the Registry is to improve Australia’s ability to detect and diagnose endemic, emerging and exotic wildlife disease that could have negative impacts within the One Health sphere by causing adverse effects on biodiversity, human health, or the economy. With a 33 year history of cataloguing diagnostics, active research, and delivering education, the Registry is in a unique position within the Australian wildlife health sector. As a leader in conservation, Taronga has a strong commitment to research and a responsibility to engage and inspire future generations to become champions for wildlife. The Taronga Institute of Science & Learning is a global centre of excellence for conservation science and learning at Taronga Zoo. Taronga continues to build on existing research to inform policy development and decision-making around wildlife management and conservation, and we continue to be a leader in wildlife research and education. The Wildlife Pathology Short Course will be held in the brand new, state of the art facilities being built on the grounds of Taronga Zoo, Sydney, Australia (to be opened August 2018). Your sponsorship of the program will help us bring together the best educators and overseas experts, while keeping registration costs as low as possible. Sponsorships will also fund scholarships for local students and wildlife practitioners from low socioeconomic countries. The prospectus attached includes detailed information regarding sponsorship and exhibition opportunities. We can also provide tailored packages to suit your budget and marketing needs. Please contact us to discuss customised sponsorship opportunities!
