Who we are The Halal Institute is the entity responsible of certifying goods and services suitable for consumption by Muslims in Spain, Mexico and Dominican Republic. With 15 years of experience and more than 400 clients, such as Repsol, Nestlé or Alanda Hotel, the Institute is devoted to promote a standardized development of the Halal market in Spain, Mexico and Dominican Republic, through the implementation of initiatives, actions and projects which favor the integration of the Halal way of life as a global concept, a term that means ‘permitted, authorized, healthy, ethical or not abusive’ and, therefore, beneficial for human beings, animal welfare, and the protection of the environment. What is Halal? Halal defines the set of goods, practices and services suitable for Muslims. Basically all food items are Halal, except those which are declared Haram as per Sharia, including, pork, the animal found dead or that has not been sacrificed conveniently, blood, ethanol and other intoxicants, etc. The Halal market does not only include the food sector, but also tourism, pharma, cosmetics, fashion, banking, finances and logistics. Today Halal is synonymous with quality, healthiness and sustainability.
