Lesson 1 – La música y las opiniones OBJECTIVE: Am I able to discuss my music interests using opinions? IN&ON: Can you match up the artist to their music genre? Task 1: Opinions: Can you decide if the opinion phrases are positive or negative? Task 2: Mi género de música favorito: Read the text, and then try to identify… • Las opiniones – opinion phrases • Los adjetivos - adjectives • Las conjugaciones del verbo “escuchar” – conjugations of the verb ‘escuchar’ • Los adverbios temporales – time phrases • Los conectivos - connectives
Task 3: ¡Te toca a ti!: Your turn! Write a description about your own music tastes and your opinion about the different genres. Try to include: opinion phrases, adjectives, conjugations of the verb ‘escuchar’, time phrases and connectives.
Lesson 2 – La música y el presente OBJECTIVE: Can I apply the present tense to describe music interests? IN&ON: Change the images into words, so that you can create 3 sentences. Task 1: The present tense: We are going to be looking at the present tense in today’s lesson, focusing mainly on ‘-AR’ verbs. Task 2: ¡Practicamos! Have a go now at translating the sentences below – take care when looking at the verb endings, and make sure you look at the explanation above to help you decide who is doing the action (e.g. if the verb is ending in ‘-AMOS’, then you know that ‘WE’ are doing the action).
Task 3: Traducid las frases: Have a go now at translating these sentences into Spanish, taking care with verb endings. There is some vocabulary at the bottom to help you. 1. Sometimes, I listen to rap music because the lyrics interest me. 2. Normally, with my family, we listen to classical music because my parents are boring. 3. Every day, I listen to pop music because I am passionate about “Little Mix”.
Lesson 3 – El cine y las opiniones OBJECTIVE: Can I apply the present tense to describe films & TV? IN&ON: Complete the Check 20 vocabulary test. Task 1: What are the film genres? Translate all the film genres on the right hand side into English. Once you have finished, write 3 sentences using the vocabulary provided, to describe what type of genre the films ‘IT’’, ‘Shrek’ and ‘Star Wars’ are.

Task 1: The preterite tense – used to talk about something that happened once in the past. You have looked at this tense several times before in lessons, so this should just be a quick recap.
Task 2: Take care – there are some verbs that do not follow this pattern, and therefore are referred to as being ‘irregular’. Task 2: Using what you have just been told, along with the things you already know about this tense, have a go at changing the verbs in the brackets into the Preterite tense. Once you have finished, have a go at translating the sentences into English.

Lesson 6 – El pretérito OBJECTIVE: Can I apply the past tense to describe a recent activity? IN&ON: Categorise the verbs into the correct tense. Task 1: Ensure you have a look back at the previous lesson where we looked at the formation of the past tense. Some other irregular past tense verbs are the verbs “ser – to be”, “ir – to go” and “hacer – to do”. See below how it is conjugated in the preterite tense. Note how “ser” and “ir” have the exact same conjugation.
Task 2: Have a read of the text below – you need to highlight in the text all of the ‘Time Phrases” and “Preterite tense verbs (the past tense)”. Use two different colours so that you can distinguish between the two aspects. Task 3: Tangled translation.
