WSEC-HD Programming Schedule for August 2019 Updated 07/16/19 Thursday, August 1, 2019 12am Ancient Skies. CC #102 Finding The Center. Follow the efforts to give the Earth a shape and a place. From flat Earth legends to Galileo's telescope, track major changes in scientific understanding. Ideas rise and fall as we continue to explore our ancient skies. TVPG 1am NOVA. CC #4614 The Planets: Jupiter. Jupiter's massive gravitational force made it a wrecking ball when it barreled through the early solar system. But it also shaped life on Earth, delivering comets laden with water - and perhaps even the fateful asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. TVG 2am The Farthest - Voyager In Space. CC Launched in 1977, NASA's epic Voyager missions revolutionized our understanding of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and their spectacular moons and rings. In 2012, Voyager 1 left our solar system and ushered humanity into the interstellar age. TVPG 4am Beyond A Year In Space. CC Picking up where the first film left off Scott Kelly's last day in space and return to Earth-the final installment also introduces viewers to the next generation of astronauts training to leave Earth's orbit and travel into deep space. TVPG 5am Peg + Cat. CC #119 The Big Dog Problem/The Three Friends Problem. The Big Dog Problem - Peg's yard. When Peg and Cat need to mail some important letters for Peg's Mom, they find their path to the mailbox blocked by a really big dog. Primary Content: Height; Secondary Content: Direction, sets that can't be divided equally. The Three Friends Problem - Peg's yard. When Peg and Cat are playing with their new friend the Big Dog, Cat suddenly becomes strangely quiet. Using a graph, Peg attempts to figure out what's wrong with Cat. Primary Content: Bar graphs; Secondary Content: More, less. TVY 5:30 Arthur. CC #1409 D.W., Queen of the Comeback/In My Africa. D.W., Queen of the Comeback - The Tibbles tease, D.W. fires back, the Tibbles taunt, D.W. has a snappy comeback, and round and round they go! Will it ever end? Perhaps an ancient Indian fable about a turtle and two wisecracking geese will be enough to teach D.W. to just let it go. In My Africa - D.W.'s new classmate, Cheikh, is Brain's young cousin.. .and is also from Senegal, Africa! When D.W. realizes that she doesn't know much about Africa she decides to learn through music - and she, Brain and Cheikh team up to write a song about all 54 countries on that continent! TVY 6am Priscilla's Yoga Stretches. CC #103 The 130 programs are designed to air daily, Monday through Friday. The 15- minute segments are frequently coupled together to fill a 30- minute time slot at the option of local programmers. The first three shows demonstrate and explain three to four new postures or exercises per show. The last two shows serve as review so the viewer has a chance to make certain they followed and understood correctly. In addition, if the viewer missed a show, the Thursday and Friday review days bring them up-to-date. At the onset, the program is strictly teaching the "building blocks" of yoga exercise. As the series progresses, the work becomes more demanding. However, there is an effort to always have a fair balance of some basically simple postures mixed in so that everyone will have an opportunity to participate. 6:15 Priscilla's Yoga Stretches. Dr. Emily shares an exercise to strengthen balance and help reduce fall risk. TVG 7am Wild Kratts. CC #220 Attack of the Tree Eating Aliens. The Wild Kratts get an urgent call from a group of North American Wild Kratts kids telling them almost all of the trees in the forest are dying. It's a race against time to solve the mystery and help the forest and the creatures who live there. TVY
7:30 Molly of Denali. CC #104 First Fish/A-Maze-Ing Snow. Molly can't wait to catch her first fish (and to earn her own first fish tale), but when she gets to the river, the only thing she catches is Tooey's missing boot! Molly must put her knowledge of the salmon life cycle to the test and find out where the fish are before the day is through. / Molly suggests a community fun-raiser to fix her school roof after a snow storm. The main attraction? A giant maze made of snow! All is well until Trini gets lost in the maze and Molly realizes the maze map is out of date. Can Molly and Tooey find a way to help Trini escape the maze? TVY 8am Curious George. CC #218 King Doggie/The Lucky Cap. King Doggie: When a limo pulls up to the doorman's lobby, the Princess of Bratvia steps out and scoops up Hundley, claiming that he is in fact a Royal Doggie! To verify this, the Princess's Aide measures him and sure enough, Hundley's head is three buckles high, his body is four stripes long and, most importantly, he has the purple mark of Bratvian royalty on his proud chest. So her Highness takes Hundley, a.k.a Barkington the Fifteenth, off to his new palace but soon the princely pup grows weary of luxury and longs for his old lobby. So it's up to his friend George to help convince the royals that Hundley, although very dignified, is just a regular dog of the people. True, Hundley's precise measurements are indeed those of a King Doggie - but could the leftover grape jelly on his chest be a clue to his real identity? EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE: To understand how to use non standard units of measurement. The Lucky Cap: George's day goes from bad to worse. He spills a bowl of milk, gets caught in a torrential downpour, and just can't get past that seven square in hopscotch. But then the Man with the Yellow Hat gives George a new cap, and the moment George puts it on his misfortunes turn into windfalls - he finds a shiny quarter, gets a free shopping spree at Dolson's toy store, and wins his first hopscotch game ever! When the Man washes the hat, however, George's bad luck returns - it's shrunk so small that it barely fits on his head! Without the hat, George needs to figure out how to count to 25 in order to win Steve's Ultra Extreme Hopscotch Challenge. Will George discover that brainpower is a force more powerful than luck? In Mexico City, the Circo orchestra gets a bad case of the hiccups, so Carmen finds a Mariachi band to fill in, causing Luna to break into wild dancing! / In Mexico City, Leo, Carmen, and Andy help return a lost cocoa bean to a friend's mother. TVY 9am Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. CC #107 Friends Help Each Other/Daniel Helps O Tell A Story. Friends Help Each Other - Daniel spends the day at Katerina Kittycat's house. Katerina is excited to show Daniel a birthday tea-party she set up all by herself for her stuffed animals! Katerina accidentally knocks the tea set on the floor, and is very upset that she ruined the party. Luckily, Daniel is a helpful friend and they reassemble the party together. Daniel Helps O Tell a Story - O the Owl wants to show Daniel all his books. The boys choose a very special book about dinosaurs, but they realize that the last page of the story is missing! O gets very flustered, but Daniel is a good friend and uses his imagination to make up the end of the story. TVY 9:30 Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. CC #102 Daniel Visits School/Daniel Visits The Doctor. Daniel Visits School - Daniel is visiting school for the first time and he's a little nervous until he learns that asking questions so that he knows what to expect is the best way to handle the anxiety that comes with new experiences. Daniel Visits the Doctor - Daniel is going to Dr. Anna for his checkup - but he is very anxious! Mom Tiger teaches him that talking about the situation will help him feel calmer, so Daniel makes a book with all the information he knows about the doctor. TVY 10am Sesame Street. CC #4813 Book Worming. Elmo's friend ZuZu is visiting Sesame Street all the way from South Africa. He wants to make her feel welcome while she's there. Alan takes Elmo over to the Book Nook, where Elmo learns all about South Africa from looking in books. He creates a welcome party, with South African food, music and clothing. When ZuZu arrives, she is so thankful. She also looked in a book to find things to do while she visited Sesame Street. TVY 10:30 Pinkalicious & Peterrific. CC #102 Slumber Party/Puptastic. Pinkalicious hosts a Princess of Pink slumber party, but one of her friends gets homesick and isn't sure she wants to spend the night! Pinkalicious, Lila and Jasmine imagine a friendly pink dragon named Gertie to help them out. / Pinkalicious is excited when the Plums let her puppy-sit Pinky, their cute but nervous poodle. To coax her to come out of her shell, Pinkalicious and Peter pretend to be dogs and get Pinky to start playing with them. But when Pinky accidentally turns pink, is the doggy fun over? TVY 11am Dinosaur Train. CC #209 Dry Times at Pteranodon Terrace/Big Misty Sea Fishing Contest. When the weather has been extremely dry for several weeks, all the water holes at Pteranodon Terrace dry up. The Lambeosaurus family decides to move away in search of water, which upsets the kids. Dad
and Mom decide to take the kids to the Big Pond on a camping trip, where they will wait out the drought and return home when it rains again. Don doesn't want to leave his home, even temporarily, and decides to perfect a "rain dance" that will make the rain return. Dad learns that he's been chosen to compete in the big annual Fishing Contest at the Big Misty Sea, and is one of three contestants. The whole family rides there on the Dinosaur Train to cheer Dad on. They learn that the contestants are Dad, the Old Spinosaurus, and Dad's childhood friend and rival, a huge raptor named Marco Megaraptor. The three all end up fighting over Chester, the legendary biggest fish in the Big Misty Sea. TVY 11:30 Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!. CC #310 Clever Levers/Going, Going, Gong. The kids need to move a big rock in their backyard so they can plant an apple tree. The Cat takes them to Machine-a-Ma-Zoo, where they learn how a lever can solve their problem. Sally is playing a song on an instrument made up of different things in the Treehouse but she can't find the right note for her song. In Gongolia, they find out that bigger things make lower sounds and smaller things make higher sounds. TVY 12pm Amanpour and Company. In trying to stop the woodpecker to save Hal's roof, and allow them to get back to band practice, the gang finds out more about woodpeckers and what exactly this one is looking for. Here Comes the Sun - Tally ho! Today Nature Cat leads his pals on an amazing adventure, to go see the Golden Sunstone! All is going well on the trek over until Nature Cat accidentally breaks the compass! Uh oh, now how are they going to tell which direction to go in? As Nature Cat panics, Squeeks, Daisy and Hal find other ways to determine which direction to go and save the day! TVY 2:30 Wild Kratts. CC #314 Mystery on the Prairie. CC #105 Bird in the Hand/Bye-Bye Birdie. Molly and Tooey think they've discovered a ghost after a strange noise follows them from Spooky Hose all the way to the Trading Post's Bunkhouse. Turns out the phantom is actually a bird stuck in a dryer vent! Molly's bird call book holds the key to finding out what kind of bird it is, but they'll need to learn what some unfamiliar words mean before finding their feathered friend a new home. / Molly and Trini tag along with Nina on trip to Kenai National Park to see real, live puffins! As the enthusiastic birders count how many puffins are eating and admire
the precocious pufflings, Molly and Trini are alarmed when the baby chicks begin to jump off a cliff! What's a good birdwatcher to do? TVY 8am Curious George. CC #219 Curious George, Sea Monkey/Old McGeorgie Had a Farm. Curious George, Sea Monkey: George and the Man with the Yellow Hat are overjoyed when Professors Wiseman, Einstein and Pizza invite them onto a submarine trip to retrieve a small weather satellite that crashed from space. Their first underwater adventure! Along the ocean floor, George and the crew locate the satellite - but a gigantic coral reef stands in the way of its recovery and the only way to get to it is through a tiny tunnel traversable only by a certain monkey. So, clad in a scuba outfit equipped with a camera and microphone, George investigates the wild, world of life in a limestone coral reef. George is thrilled with all the colorful sights and sea-life and even makes a few fishy pals - but will the school of small coral sharks he encounters be as friendly? EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE: To understand that coral reefs are made up of many living creatures. Old McGeorgie Had a Farm: Oscar, the Renkin's prize pig, is in the State Finals but a disappointed Mr. Renkins is too busy with the farm to attend the big fair. Enter George and the Man with the Yellow Hat who volunteer to take over his work and save the day! All they have to remember is to collect exactly one gallon of milk from Leslie the cow and divide that gallon into four one-quart bottles, gather a dozen eggs for each carton, and keep track of exactly 6 hens, 8 chicks and 1 rooster. Cinchy! Except that George forgets the most important thing of all - the correct side on which to milk the cow. So a spooked Leslie starts a chain of chaos that has George and the Man scrambling to track down all their charges and stop bedlam in the barnyard. In Mexico City, Andy desperately wants to find a big surface to paint on and learns about murals in the process. / In Carmen's home town of Mexico City, she is asked to perform at the Day of the Dead festival and must overcome her fear of skeletons. TVY 9am Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. CC #106 Daniel And Miss Elaina Play Rocketship/Daniel Plays At The Castle. Daniel and Miss Elaina Play Rocketship - Daniel has come to play with Miss Elaina today! They decide to play "outer space," but Miss Elaina gets upset when her cardboard telescope and spaceship accidentally break. Lady Elaine helps the friends see that they can still have fun together, even without the toys - because they're friends! They use their imaginations to keep playing, which is just as much fun! Daniel Plays at the Castle - Daniel is visiting Prince Wednesday and the boys are excited to explore Prince Wednesday's rock collection. Daniel is saddened when Prince Wednesday tells him the rocks are too delicate to play with. Daniel and Prince Wednesday learn that friendship is about more than just playing with each other's toys - it's about being together! TVY 9:30 Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. CC #104 Daniel Gets Mad/Katerina Gets Mad. Daniel Gets Mad - Daniel Tiger and Prince Wednesday are looking forward to playing at the beach. Then it starts to rain and Mom Tiger says they can't go outside, which makes them very mad. After Mom Tiger helps the boys deal with their mad feelings and they're calm, they come up with a grr-ific plan to make a beach - indoors! Katerina Gets Mad - It's New Instrument Day at Music Man Stan's Music Shop. Everyone is excited, but Katerina Kittycat gets mad when someone else picks the instrument she wants to play. Music Man Stan helps guide Katerina through her mad feelings by teaching everyone how to dance, stomp and sing their mad feelings away. TVY 10am Sesame Street. CC #4824 My Rakhi Family. Telly and Zoe help Leela celebrate the Indian holiday Rakhi. TVY 10:30 Pinkalicious & Peterrific. CC #103 Invisible Band/Best Pink Present. The Pinkville marching band comes down with a bad case of the whiffling sneezes and can't play, disappointing the town. Luckily, Pinkalicious persuades her friends to use their voices to become the Invisible Marching Band. / It's Daddy's birthday and Pinkalicious doesn't have a present, but knows she'll need wrapping paper so she sets out to paint some. When Daddy gets home, that's all that's done! TVY 11am Dinosaur Train. CC #210 Hurricane at Pteranodon Terrace/Rafting The Cretaceous. The long- awaited rains finally return to Pteranodon Terrace, but grow into a huge rainstorm that grows even bigger - into a hurricane! Dad hasn't seen it blow like this since he was a kid. They seek shelter, and Don discovers an entrance to a cave below their nest, where not only the Pteranodons, but also their other neighbors, the Lambeorsaurus family and Cindy Cimolestes, all take shelter for the night. In the morning, the storm has passed, but everyone must pitch in to rebuild their various nests. The family is cleaning up the mess left over from the hurricane, and discover that a raft of logs has washed up two refugees from across the Western Interior Sea - a turtle named Aidan Adocus, and a small mammal named Tommy
Ptilodus. Our family learns of their adventure, crossing the sea in the storm, and washing up at Pteranodon Terrace. They decide to take their new friends to the Dinosaur Train, and ride back with them to their home in Appalachia. TVY 11:30 Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!. CC #311 You're It/The Holes Story. Sally keeps getting found when they play Hide and Seek. Cat takes them to Tagaloo to meet a great seeker. They keep trying to catch up to the elusive Tagaloop, and along the way they find out that they can use more than their sense of sight to find things. Sally loses her special bead in the sandbox and they can't find it. Cat takes them to the Hole-Lot-of Funhouse, where they have to make their way across different floors without falling through. Along the way they discover how the size and shape of materials can be used to sort or filter different materials. TVY 12pm Amanpour and Company. CC #2024 (R) See 8/1 at 10pm. Wild Daisy Knickknack, Nature Cat Kid, Sundown Squeeks and their authentic western horse-poke, Hal, are on a Wild West adventure searching for something really wild - wildflowers! Wildflowers grow without anyone planting them. How wild is that? Time to round up three of the wildest wild flowers this side of the Mississippi. Actually, both sides! Yee-haw! / Poor Squeeks, has the winter blues! She feels like it's been winter forever and she's sick of it. She also misses her other friends who have been gone all winter, especially her pal Edna the eagle. Nature Cat has an idea to cheer up his mouse pal!
