2 Winkfield Parish News - Serving the Community MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN Cllr David Parkin What a busy year we have had so far! Our 125 year anniversary events have been hugely successful and well received by those attending. We still have our Quiz Night and Afternoon Tea coming up over the next couple of months. This is in addition to the ever popular Arts Week and Festive Event. We have seen a number of staff changes in the last two months (see article below) but we are confident that we have a very strong team to lead the Council forward. We also have new Councillors who have joined us over the past couple of months and we look forward to working with them. With the inevitable leaf-fall and wet weather that comes with Autumn, it is important to ensure that any ditches around your property are kept clear to avoid potential flooding. As the nights draw in and we head into the winter months, we encourage you all to keep safe and warm and look out for neighbours, particularly the elderly who may not have family or friends close by. The route of approximately 20 miles took around 2 hours to complete and incorporated many of the sites owned or managed by WPC. The ‘hunters’ followed a series of directions taking them to different places where they had to answer clues and find ‘treasure’. Everyone who took part made it back to the finishing point and enjoyed ice-cream and cold drinks on their return. The weather was beautiful and an enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
