Slow Food Slow Food started out almost thirty years ago in Piedmont. Despite the expo- nential rowth of members worldwide and the huge spread of Carlo Petrini’s ideas, its headquartes remain in Bra, a small Piedmontese town. Its heart still beats in Piedmont and the first events were centred on the wine of this region. Slow Food believes that wine, just as with food, must be “good, clean, and fair”—not just good. Wine is an agricultural product, just like any of the foods we eat, and has an impact on the lives of the people who produce it, as well as on the environ- ment—through pesticides, herbicides and excessive water consumption which are all commonplace in conventional wine production. Slow Wine The annual Slow Wine guide, published by Slow Food Editore, adopts a new approach to wine criticism: not only reviews and organoleptic descriptions but a real wine storytelling where the deep and direct knowledge of the wine com- panies is the one and only protagonist. We visit all cellars and take into consid- eration the wine quality, adherence to terroir, value for money and give greater weight and importance to the estates’ production methods. Through the guide and international tour we support and promote small-scale Italian winemakers who are using traditional techniques, working with respect for the environment, and safeguarding the incredible biodiversity of grape varieties that are part of Italy’s heritage. I Vini del Piemonte I Vini del Piemonte is a consortium of promotion that includes some 200 Pied- montese wine companies. The aim is to promote and communicate in the best way possible the richness and peculiarities of the different Piedmontese wine designations. Every year, the consortium organizes more than 30 promotional initiatives in dif- ferent countries around the world.

40 ANTIQUUM FARM C Region: Oregon Junction City 20 Acres – 3,000 Bottles www.antiquumfarm.com info@antiquumfarm.com Contact Person: Andrew Bandy Smith Searching for Distributor Soil is a living system. We believe that a vibrant, emphatically alive place is the defining foundation of terroir. We have grown to understand that most practices accepted as sustainable are actually quite destructive to the life of the soil and to the char- acter of the vineyard. We have forged a new system of wine growing we call Grazing-Based Viticulture. Through this par- adigmatic shift in philosophy, we seek new answers to an age- old question: What endows a particular site with its personality, its soul, its terroir? Certainly, it can’t be the mathematic ratios of nutrients and minerals relayed in the results on a lab report. 2 Willamette Valley Pinot Gris Aurosa 2019 2 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Juel 2019 2 Antiquum Farm Passiflora Pinot Noir 2019 45
