GENERAL CONDITIONS
The Temuka & Geraldine A & P Association hereby adopts By-laws of the Royal Agricultural Society, and agrees to abide by these
By-laws, which are available for inspection on request from the Secretary. All entries to be accepted on these conditions:
1 Exhibits must be on the Showgrounds & ready for Judging at the following times:
   All White and Black & Coloured Wool to be in the Wool Room by Monday 1 March 2021 9am sharp
   Friday 6 March: Shed 5.30pm.
   Saturday 6 March: Horses & Ponies 8.00am; Geraldine PC Trophy 7.45am; Sheep, Goats 9am; Vegetables, Grain & Seed
   9.30am,
2 Gate Passes will be allocated to exhibitors who have paid $10.00 or more in entry fees.
3 Cups and Trophies may be presented on Show Day and photographed but must be handed back immediately.
4 All prizes not claimed within six months after the date of the Show will be forfeited to the Association.
5 Refunds: 80% of Entry Fee on production of a Veterinary Certificate & Doctor’s Certificate or at discretion of the organising
   committee (on the day of the show).
6 Allocation of Points: Standard Points: First 6 points; Second 4 points; Third 2 points; V H C 1 point (no points if less than five
   entries.) Champions 2 points; Reserve Champion 1 point extra. In the event of no competition, only half points awarded.
   Competition means two or more exhibitors, whose exhibits are judged competing for the prize or prizes in the particular class
   for which prizes are awarded. Ties to count 1 win each. For points prizes no additional points will be awarded for Supreme or
   Grand Champion. In the event of two exhibitors or more gaining equal points, the exhibitor gaining most first prizes will be
   declared the winner. If points are still equal the exhibitor being awarded most championships will be declared the winner.
7 All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor & the exhibitor must have grown all produce. All stock must be
   the property of the exhibitor 30 days prior to the official date of entries closing & in the case of Sheep, exhibitors must own a
   registered brand. The pet lamb classes are exempt from this condition.
8 Where a Class has an age qualification, this is 1 March.
9 Improper Conduct: Any exhibitor or other person interfering or using insulting or improper language to a Judge or any other
   Officer of the Association, in regard to the execution of their duty, or being guilty of improper conduct on the Show Ground,
   may be disqualified from exhibiting at future Shows of the Association, and, if a prize taker, shall be liable to have all his/her
   unpaid prize forfeited at the discretion of the Committee of the Association whose decision is final.
10 Disqualified Persons: Should any person or firm be disqualified or suspended by a kindred or Metropolitan Association, the
   Committee of
   the Association shall have power to endorse such disqualification or suspension, should they see fit.
11 All protests must be in writing, and may be lodged with the President within one hour from the completion of the class judged,
   together with a deposit of Horse Section $50.00 cash, Cattle and Sheep Section
   $20.00 cash and all other sections $10.00 cash which shall be returned should the protest be sustained.
   If the protest be lodged before the judges proceed to their duties, the onus of proof will rest with the exhibitor, if after that
   the onus of proof will be with the party protesting. No protest will be accepted later than one hour after the prize tickets are
   affixed. The Temuka and Geraldine A&P Assn. Committee, or not less than five members thereof, will decide all protests as
   soon as practicable, and there shall be no appeal from their decision.
12 Exhibitors may arrange for the SALE OF STOCK, etc, but the sale shall not take place prior to 4.00pm unless the Executive give
   a consent in writing, signed by the Secretary. No advertising allowed. No stock shall be removed from the ground until after
   3.30pm. NOTE: All stock entries can be removed from grounds after 3.30pm; all other sections must not be uplifted till after
   4.00pm. Permission to remove exhibits from any classes before stated times must be obtained from the Secretary & will only
   be considered in special circumstances.
13 The Association will not be responsible for any accident, loss or damage that may be caused to or suffered by any exhibit, or
   which may be caused directly by any other exhibit, notwithstanding any alleged negligence on the part of any officer or servant
   of the Association and it shall be condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Association indemnified against any class
   in respect of any such accident, loss or damage caused by any exhibit of such exhibitor.
14 The Committee will not, under any circumstances, hold themselves responsible for the loss, damage or miss-delivery of stock,
   produce, goods etc exhibited at the show.
15 Exhibitors & spectators are advised that the Association carries a Public Insurance Risk Policy for the day of the Show.
16 The Association holds records of names & addresses of all Members & Exhibitors and photos of competitors/exhibitors maybe
   posted on the Temuka and Geraldine A&P Association website.

                              Important Health & Safety Information - For Exhibitors and Competitors

•   Livestock exhibitors and competitors must follow the instructions of Marshals and Officials.
•   Exhibitors and competitors are responsible for ensuring their animals are kept in control at all times.
•   The Temuka & Geraldine A&P Association reserves the right to order the immediate removal from the Showgrounds of any
    animal it considers dangerous, unruly or unmanageable.
•   Livestock exhibitors must ensure they keep walkways clear and that no dangerous equipment or chemicals are accessible to
    the public.

                                       Important Notice to All Dog Owners and Handlers

Your dog is welcome at the Temuka & Geraldine A&P Association Show at the Winchester Domain. Please note the following:
 • Your dog must be under your control at all times and on a lead as per the Timaru District Council Bylaws for dogs in public
   places.
 • Any injury or damage caused by your dog will be charged for.
WOOL
FLEECE WOOL COMPETITION

All Wool judged Friday 5 March 2021 at 10am

CONDITIONS:
1. All Fleeces to be properly skirted as required by trade. Only wool off sheep in the current season is
   eligible for competition.
2. The Judge may at his discretion, change fleeces from one class to their correct class without prejudice
   to the exhibitor.
3. Growers who have their exhibits changed are to apply to the section steward in charge, who will
   inform them where their exhibits have been placed.
4. All fleeces must be the property of the bona fide farmer, but it is not necessary that the exhibitor be
   the breeder of the sheep.
5. Fleeces must not be removed before 4.00 pm & then only under the supervision of a class steward.

Entry Fee:
Members $3.00, Non-Members $4.50

SCALES OF WEIGHT FOR JUDGING
Minimum Weights: Rams 3.5 kg; Ewes 2.5 kg; Woolly Hoggets 2.0 kg.
Fleeces under the minimum weight are not accepted for competition.

Open to Exhibitors who reside in the Mayfield-Temuka & Geraldine A&P Districts. Open to all breeds.

show (without payment of entry fees). Fleeces will be judged at both Mayfield and Temuka & Geraldine
with points aggregated together for an overall winner.

SHEEP

CONDITIONS:
1. The giving of a prize to a sheep shall imply that the judges are satisfied that such sheep are fairly shorn
    or trimmed.
2. Definition of a Hogget: A sheep born after 1 July in any one year shall be considered a Hogget up to and
    including 31 December in the following year, except in the case of the Dorset Horn & Poll Dorset sheep
    when 1 May should be substituted for 1 July.
3. Hoggets are now eligible for Championship Judging.
4. All sheep in Pedigree Shorn Classes must be shorn not earlier than 20 July, unless otherwise stated.
5. Championships will only be awarded as provided where there are at least three exhibitors unless in the
    opinion of the Judge, an animal is deemed worthy of the award but medals may only be given where
    there are three or more exhibitors. In such cases a certificate will be issued.
6. No stud sheep or lambs, rams or rigs admitted in Prime Stock Classes.
7. Breeding to be stated on entry forms in Prime Stock Classes.
8. Judges will be instructed not to award prizes to sheep which they consider unfairly shorn or excessively
    trimmed or excessively coloured: also to disqualify sheep which are unfairly presented.
9. All male animals only from brucellosis accredited free flocks will be allowed on the Showground.
10. All Sheep to be penned by 9.30am.

CONDITIONS:
1. All entries must be made in the name of bona fide owner(s). Full name of the goat and registered number, date
    of birth, sire’s name and number, Dam’s name and number to be given at the time of entry. Associated Record
    Entries may state “unknown” for sire or dam.
2. All goats must be Registered or Recorded.
3. Animals entered in special classes must have been exhibited in their appropriate standard age class.
4. No person being a member of the family or an employee of the Official Judge shall be entitled to exhibit.
5. The age of the goat will be taken on the day of judging.
6. Goats which gained their GCH or AGCH awards are not eligible to compete in the normal standard age classes.
    They may compete in the Grand Champion Class and other Special Classes.
7. All goats to be exhibited must be penned by 9.30am on Saturday.
8. Handlers must wear white coats in the ring and whilst participating in the Grand Parade
9. No entire male goat will be admitted to the Showgrounds.
10. Breed Awards. To be awarded only if the animal is deemed worthy and is not already eligible for a Breed
    Champion prefix or is a BCH.
11. Will comply with the by-laws of the RAS of NZ for the exhibition of Dairy goats.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES
2114   Junior Showmanship
       For young person’s 15yrs and under. To be judged on exhibitor’s ability to lead, place, turn, stop and start
       their goat. To answer questions. Show preparation and appearance of both goat and handler to be
       considered.

1. The shed will be closed to all people while judging commences from 6:00pm Friday 5 March

Men Only Edmond’s Carrot Cake Recipe

Ingredients
 3 eggs                                           ½ tsp cinnamon
 ½ cup vegetable oil                              3 cups carrot, grated
 2 cups Edmonds High Grade Flour                  ½ cup walnuts, chopped
 1 cup sugar                                      1 tsp grated orange rind
 3 tsp Edmonds Baking Soda                        ¾ cup crushed pineapple

Icing
 2 tbsp butter – softened                    1 cup icing sugar
 ½ cup cream cheese                          ½ tsp grated lemon rind
Preheat oven to 1800C conventional or 1600C fan forced. Grease a 22cm round cake tin
and line the base with baking paper.
In a large bowl, beat eggs until thick then stir in oil. Sift flour, sugar, baking soda and
cinnamon into the egg mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon until combined. Fold in the
carrots. Walnuts, orange rind and pineapple.
Spoon mixture into prepared cake tin. Bake for 45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the
centre of the cake comes out clean. Leave in tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a
wire rack.
Icing:
Place butter & cream cheese into a bowl and beat until creamy. Mix in icing sugar and
lemon rind, beating well to combine. Spread icing over cooled cake.

Men Only Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients

 ⅔ cup Cocoa                                      1½ cups Sugar
 1⅔ cups Flour                                    2 Eggs
 100g Butter                                      1½ cups Milk
 1½ tsp Baking Soda                               1 tsp Salt
 1 tsp Vanilla

Preheat oven to 1600. Put all the cake ingredients into the food processor and whizz until
nicely mixed or alternatively mix by hand. Pour into a cake tin and bake for 60 minutes.

Conditions of Entry:

1.    All animals must belong to a clear TB herd where whole herd testing is performed in accordance with
      the AANZ voluntary TB scheme. (Copies of current TB certificates to be enclosed with entry forms)

2.    All alpacas entered in Championship Classes must be registered with the IAR and carry a brass ear tag
      displaying its corresponding IAR number. Copies of registration certificates are not required to be
      enclosed with the entry forms. Please note that A1 forms are not acceptable

3.    The exhibitor is the owner(s) listed on the alpaca’s registration certificate. In the case of a registered
      lease, the lessee is deemed the owner.

4.    The age of the alpaca is its age on the day of the show.

5.    All exhibitors or handlers must place their animals in the pens allotted by the Convenor. Placement of
      animals in 'trade pens' will only be done with the permission of the Chief Steward.

6.    No animal shall be removed from the show prior to the completion of the Grand Parade without the
