Earth Explorers

In its inaugural year, Williamsburg Northside Lower School
Summer Camp will travel the globe with each week focusing
on a different city around the world. The rich and engaging
curriculum will incorporate characteristics of each city and
notable landmark into the morning enrichment classes.
All children will have the opportunity to have enrichments
such as fitness, art, theatre, and others. Grades 1-6 will have
afternoon specials which will rotate daily and incorporate
content such as computer science, engineering, dance,
athletics, and others. All campers will spend time outside daily
at McCarren Park, the local playground, or our outside terrace.
Earth Explorers at Williamsburg Northside Lower School
Summer Camp will give campers invaluable knowledge about
our world and an unforgettable experience coupled in one.

Incoming Preschool 2s
Transition Class
Our innovative transition class is ideal for children enrolled in our school
for the Fall of 2018 and is open exclusively to children born in 2016. Our
tailored approach focuses on the process of separation between child and
caregiver in order to best prepare children for their first group experience
away from home. Caregivers will join their children at the start of the summer
and work together with the teacher to gradually lead their children toward
independence at school. Parents are required to stay with their children for
the first 2 weeks (4-6 classes depending on schedule) at minimum before
slowly transitioning out of the classroom, as lead by the class instructor and in
direct response to the needs of the specific group. Children in this group will
be offered music and art in their classroom weekly.

Incoming Preschool 3s
This summer, campers (2015 birth year) will explore the place we all call
home: Earth. Using a playful, joyous approach, young campers will learn
to appreciate and care for our most precious resource; our planet! Each
session will focus on a different aspect of the world, offering little ones an
opportunity to explore creatures, soil, and sky in the familiar context of a
typical preschool day. Children will also be treated to ample time outside
in our rooftop garden and outdoor classroom.

Every group’s schedule will be unique, but each will include several
fundamental components, including unstructured playtime, teacher-led
activities, built in family-style meal times, and ample time outdoors.
