Foreword Waste – Where does the rubbish go? It is not always that easy to decide where each type of waste should go. Into the blue, brown, yellow or maybe actually into the black container? One thing is clear – waste sorting means saving resources and protecting the environment! Those who sort waste correctly are not only playing an important role in environ- mental protection but are keeping more money in their wallets. The requirement: Waste material sorting! Participate! Paper What can go into the container? Right: • Newspapers, magazines Removal: • Packaging made of paper and cardboard Every 4 weeks* (also with „Grüner Punkt“) – dispose of adhesive plastic parts via „Gelber Sack“. • Catalogues, books, notebooks and other waste materials made of paper and cardboard Wrong: • Coated or waxes, grease-proof paper (e.g. Tetra Pak**, composite packaging with a plastic component**) • Packaging with food remains (e.g. pizza cartons, card- board plates) • Photo print-outs • Self-adhesive paper • Wallpaper • Cartons which are connected with plastic or metal (e.g. toy packaging** and file folders) **Please recycle cartons of this type via the dual system (Gelber Sack/Gelbe Tonne). *Put the container out before 6:00 a.m. on the pick-up day. Attention! Save space Please lay cartons flat or tear them up.
Bio waste What can go into the container? Right: • Kitchen waste (also handled fruit peels) Removal: • Remainders of food (e.g. pasta, meat, bones) Every 2 weeks* • Rotten foods (e.g. mouldy bread, cheese without packaging) • Garden waste • Other organic waste such as hair, feathers, wood shavings, small animal waste • Paper to absorb moisture, paper towels, paper napkins • Christmas tree, cut up and without ornaments and decorations Wrong: •C ans, glass, leather, metals and plastics • Hygiene articles, diapers • Faecal material such as dog faeces •M ineral-based cat litter • Vacuum cleaner bags and street rubbish Froggie • Textiles • L iquid waste materials •A nimal cadavers *Put the container out before 6:00 a.m. on the pick-up day. Attention! Packaging type Let garden clippings and kitchen cooking waste dry out well and wrap in newspapers or paper towels. Do not use any plastic bags. The alternatives are compostable paper bags.
Light packaging What can go into Gelber Sack/Gelbe Tonne? Recyclinghof Information on Recyclinghof Oberursel In order to ensure a seamless process at the Recyclinghof, we request that you follow the following instructions: •Note the official business hours •Do not place any waste in front of the closed door •Identify yourself as a citizen of Oberursel when you make the delivery* •Follow the instructions and signals of the staff •Follow the signs and respect the barriers •Do not give any tips •Only deliver conventional household waste 1 (solid waste up to 1 m³, used oil up to 10 litres) •Do not deliver any prohibited items •Do not take any items with you •Move around the operating facility with caution •Leave the site as quickly as possible after you unload •Please be aware of the work machines and vehicles •You can deliver a typical household quantity 1 x daily *Background information: The recycling centre is financed through the waste removal fees of the citizens of Oberursel. Because outside parties are not entitled to turn in waste materials, ID checks are performed. Right: • Used clothing made of textiles and leather • Hats, caps and ties • Home and household textiles such as bed linens/towels • Curtains • Shoes, combined into pairs Wrong: • Soiled and wet textiles • Carpets, floor coverings and textile wallpapers • Mattresses • Residual waste and other rubbish Tips 1. Pack safely Package the textiles in bags so they are clean, dry and to protect them. 2. Drop in items with foresight Please use the red containers of „Rotes Kreuz“ and BSO. The revenue from recycling is only used for charitable purposes and to stabilise your waste removal fees. Attention! Container selection When dropping clothing into the container, note the labelling on the container. Do not use any illegal containers but only the one from BSO/the City of Oberursel (Taunus) or Rotes Kreuz.
Used glass What can go into the container? Right: • Bottles • Canning jars • Other container glass which was used as packaging Wrong: • Optical glasses • Mirrors • Flat glass (e.g. window glass) • Products made of refractory glass (e.g. ceran ceramic material) • Other types of glass which cannot be recycled (e.g. Christmas ornaments) Location info You can find a current list of the locations of the used glass containers at www.bso-oberursel.de. Please place mirror and window glass and dishes into the residual waste container.

Bulky rubbish What is taken? Right: • All bulky items which accumulate in Collection: a private household … 4 pick-ups with 3m3 per year and … which, due to their weight, even household after reasonable reduction in size through dismantling, do not fit into the residual waste container and … are not heavier than 50 kg.
