Angel’s Envy expands – Angel’s Envy Distillery in Louisville has almost completed its $8.2 million expansion doubling its
annual guest capacity. The expansion has added more than 13,000 square feet doubling tourism capacity to
accommodate 100,000 visitors per year and is expected to be complete and open to the public in early June, with
traditional tours still ongoing. The upgrades include additional bar space, five new tasting rooms, a “Bottle Your Own”
experience, an event space and catering kitchen and new tours. Cocktail classes that were offered pre-COVID will also

Bardstown Bourbon Company announces multi-million-dollar expansion – Bardstown Bourbon Company has
announced a $28.7 million expansion project to increase production. The project will include a 15,000-square-foot addition
to the existing distillery, as well as adding space to one of the fermenter buildings, 16 new fermenters, a new distillation
column and equipment, grain handling equipment and more. The expansion will increase the company’s annual capacity

Heaven Hill Distillery to revive production in Bardstown – Heaven Hill Distillery has announced plans for a new $135
million distillery in Bardstown, Construction is set to begin this year, with an expected completion date of 2024. The new
distillery will revive the company’s distilling production in its hometown of Bardstown after a devastating loss in 1996 due
to fire. The new facility will be located at 1015 Old Bloomfield Pike, off KY 245. Initial production will be 150,000 barrels,
with plans to expand capacity and ramp up production to 450,000 gallons over time.

Augusta Distillery announces new distillery, event center – Augusta Distillery in Bracken County has announced its
first full-scale operation in Kentucky with the renovation of an existing 40,000-square-foot-building, formerly home to the
F.A. Neider Co. in Augusta. The company is investing $23 million to build a state-of-the-art distillery, guest experience and
event center. Construction is set to begin summer 2022 and the facility is expected to be operational by summer 2024.

New Riff Distilling to double number of barrels aging – New Riff Distilling in Newport has announced plans for a $9
million expansion. The company has purchased 10 acres of land in Silver Grove, Ky., and plans to build a 55,000-square-
foot barrel aging facility that will allow the company to age 41,000 more barrels of bourbon, more than doubling the current

Casey Jones Distillery expanding production – Casey Jones Distillery in Christian County has announced a $2 million
expansion project that will add a 1,000-gallon distillation, fermentation and mash cooking system to expand production
capacity of bourbon and other spirits. The distillery also plans to add a bottling line, distilled water system and alcohol

Horse Soldier Bourbon coming to Somerset – In October 2021, Horse Soldier Bourbon broke ground on a $200 million
project to build a bourbon experience in Somerset, Pulaski County. The bourbon project will include a distillery, visitor
center, activity center, amphitheater, high-end hospitality and overnight accommodations with a lodge, cabins and retail
village, a chapel, an outdoor event space, unique dining options and other entertainment spaces. This American bourbon

distillery is unique, as it was founded by members of the first U.S. Army Special Forces unit to enter Afghanistan following
the infamous 9/11 attacks who later became known as “The Horse Soldiers.” In April 2022, the company announced plans
to open a dining experience in downtown Somerset. The smart-casual dining and cocktail restaurant will be modeled after
The Urban Stillhouse, the company’s experience in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Green River Distilling Co. releases flagship bourbon – Green River Distilling Co. in Owensboro has launched its
flagship Green River Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, with each bottle including the phrase “The Pride of Owensboro”
to honor the city and its bourbon legacy. The bottle features key brand icons including horseshoes, rivets and the original
Green River colors. This is the first Green River bourbon to hit markets in over a century and helps celebrate the

Castle & Key releases first bourbon – Castle & Key Distillery, located on McCracken Pike between Frankfort and
Versailles, is releasing Castle & Key Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey Batch #1. It will be the first proprietary bourbon
distilled and released on the grounds in close to 50 years. The business started reviving the historic Old Taylor Distillery in
2014 and has been producing mostly gin while waiting for its bourbon to age. Batch #2 launched in early May.

Log Still Distillery planning family-friendly destination – Log Still Distillery, a new bourbon distillery located in Nelson
County about 20 minutes south of Bardstown, recently opened its state-of-the-art tasting room, The Homestead Bed &
Breakfast and The Poplar Cottage lodging, an outdoor amphitheater and event venue called The Legacy. The Legacy can
be divided into three unique spaces: The Chapel, The Banquet Hall and The Breezeway. Dant Crossing’s full-service
dining and catering is led by Executive Chef David Danielson, formerly of Churchill Downs. Future plans include a train
depot, fishing lake, walking trails and a restaurant and bar. The full-service restaurant, 47 & Poplar, is expected to open in
2022 and is to be led by Chef David Danielson, who previously served as Churchill Downs’ executive chef.

Four Roses unveils new visitor center – Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg opened a new visitor center with a
covered patio and cocktail area in December 2021. The nearly 15,000-square foot building blends in with the existing
Spanish mission-style buildings the distillery in known for, and includes a gift shop, four tasting rooms, a new bar called
“Bar 1888,” and an archive space dedicated to former Four Roses brand ambassador and historian Albert “Al” Young.

Wilderness Trail expanding production – Wilderness Trail Distillery in Danville has plans to increase its daily
production of bourbon and rye whiskey by adding six new fermenters. Half of the fermenters, 4,000-gallons each, will be
installed in the original distillery, while the other three 20,000-gallon fermenters will be housed in a newly constructed

Lux Row Distillers planning expansion – Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown recently announced a $4 million expansion
project that will increase its annual capacity by 75 percent. The expected completion date is late 2022. Once the project is
completed, the distillery will be able to operate 24 hours a day and distil more than 50,000 barrels of bourbon per year.
The distillery will be fully operational throughout the construction project, and tours will not be affected.

Diageo, Bulleit Bourbon open first carbon-neutral distillery in North America – Global spirits company Diageo,
parent company of Bulleit Bourbon, opened the first carbon-neutral distillery in North America in central Kentucky during
fall 2021. The 72,000-square-foot clean energy facility is located in Lebanon. In order to avoid producing carbon
emissions, the company will distill its alcohol – primarily Bulleit Bourbon – using electrode boilers powered by 100 percent
renewable electricity, including wind and solar. The distillery’s onsite lighting, equipment and electric vehicles will also run

Black-owned bourbon from Lexington now in stores – Fresh Bourbon owners Sean and Tia Edwards announced in
October 2021 that their bourbon is now available in 100+ stores, bars and restaurants across Kentucky. The bourbon is
currently being made in Paris at Hartfield & Co. Distillery while the black-owned Lexington distillery is being planned and

Old Steel House Distillery experience planned for Bardstown – The historic T.W. Samuels Distillery site is set to be
transformed into Old Steel House Distillery (formerly Old Samuels Distillery), a tourism, restaurant, and lodging
experience just 10 minutes from downtown Bardstown. The project will be completed in phases, with the historic
Restoration Tour currently available, and in the future will offer a multi-faceted experience with a retail gift shop, dozens of
private cottages available to rent, event space, a restaurant, bar and tasting room.

New distillery coming to far western Kentucky – In May 2021, Jackson Purchase Distillery announced plans for a new
$8.76 million distilling operation in Hickman, located in Fulton County, Kentucky along the Mississippi River. The company
will upgrade a long-idled facility and add new land, construct barrel storage and make other upgrades, with the expansion

Brown-Forman plans to expand distilleries – Brown-Forman is planning a $95 million expansion at its distillery located
near Dixie Highway in the Shively area of Louisville. The expansion will modernize the workspace, double the number of
fermenters, add column still capacity and mash cookers, improve the grain handling and byproducts system as well as on-
site traffic flow, plus create green space for an Old Forester oak tree nursery. The company is also set to expand
Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, doubling its production capacity and adding three copper still pots, constructing
a new building to house the boiler plant, adding fermentation tanks, a grain unloading area, a barrel unloading and
storage area and an employee conference and training center. Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2022;

Historic Kentucky bourbon brand being revived at Camp Nelson site – The historic bourbon brand E.J. Curley & Co.
is being reborn at Camp Nelson in Nicholasville. The brand dates back to the Civil War era and was formerly known as
the Kentucky River Distillery at the Kentucky Palisades after prohibition until the 1960s. The new distillery will be located
at the same site as the original E.J. Curley & Co. operation, which operated in Jessamine County from the late 1860s. A
$5 million investment includes constructing a 22,500-square-foot facility that will offer two Kentucky mash bills. Plans are
in motion for an E.J. Curley & Co. Revival Tour in late 2021, with spirits production and the opening of a tasting room

New African American Brough Brothers Distillery in Louisville – Three African American Louisville-born brothers –
Victor, Christian and Bryson Yarbrough – have created a new distillery in Louisville. The Brough Brothers Distillery was
completed in 2020 on Dixie Highway in the Parkhill Neighborhood, and the 2,200-square-foot building is now open to the

Experiences
New dog-friendly whiskey bar in Louisville – Frank’s Whiskey Place, a new dog-friendly whiskey bar, has opened at
331 E. Market St. in Louisville. It’s in the former Haymarket Whiskey Bar space; Frank’s Whiskey Place will include the
front building and patio, with an entertainment space planned for the back of the building to open in early 2023. The bar
features a custom walnut wood bar-back with live-edge walnut shelves for alcohol and dark railroad ties holding the bar
up, and the walls will be filled with murals from distilleries on the Urban Bourbon Trail. The new business is named after
the owner’s dog, a 3-year-old Australian shepherd Labrador mix named Frank, and his face is part of the bar’s logo.

Heaven Hill’s renovated visitor experience wins global award – The Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience in Bardstown
was recognized as Whisky Magazine’s Global Whiskey Attraction of the Year after completing extensive, multi-million-
dollar renovations. The company added a new two-story wing, expanding the visitor center and adding three new themed
tasting rooms. The new wing features the Five Brothers Bar and Kitchen, a lounge-type area and a hands-on experience

New bourbon club opens in Norton Commons – Just outside of Louisville in the Norton Commons, there’s a new
exclusive bourbon club – Watch Hill Proper. The experience includes whiskey cocktails, premium bourbon, tastings,

Whiskey Row entertainment venue planned – The six-story W. L. Weller building on Louisville’s historic Whiskey Row
is set to become an entertainment venue called Number Fifteen, celebrating the history and future of Kentucky, and
named after the Commonwealth being the 15th state to join the union. The venue will offer a combination of the state’s
best musicians, distillers, brewers and chefs and is set to open in spring 2023. The building was purchased by The

Louisville Slugger opens distillery experience in downtown Louisville – A new distillery experience, Barrels and
Billets, opened in late February next door to the Slugger Museum on Main Street in Louisville. It is owned by Hillerich and
Bradsby, the company who operates Louisville Slugger. Barrels and Billets offers a custom bourbon blending experience
lasting approximately 45 minutes, with six different wood-finished bourbons that visitors can taste and blend. The new
custom recipes will then be bottled, sealed and labeled with a custom label so guests can take their new blends home

Hermitage Farm unveils new tasting room – Hermitage Farm in Goshen, located just outside of Louisville, has opened

Stitzel-Weller Distillery opens Garden & Gun Club in Louisville – The historic Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville has
opened an on-site destination cocktail bar, Garden & Gun Club, inspired by the Garden & Gun Magazine’s hospitality
franchise. The club is open to the public now and no membership is required; it is independent of distillery tours. Located
on the second floor, this unique food and drink experience features a custom-designed bar, bistro tables, banquette

Bourbon & Beyond, Louder Than Life to return in September 2022 – Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) has announced
that the Bourbon & Beyond music festival is set to return to the Highland Festival Grounds at the Kentucky Exposition
Center September 15-18, 2022. The event was last held in 2019, when it established itself as the World’s Largest
Bourbon & Music Festival with a record attendance of 91,000 people. The 2022 festival will expand the event to four full
days, with a lineup to include Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Jack White, Kings of Leon, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit,
Pearl Jam and The Doobie Brothers. There will also be hands-on bourbon workshops and tastings, culinary programming
and more. Louder Than Life, a rock festival also organized by DWP, is set for September 22-25, 2022, at the same

New hotel planned for NuLu – Bunkhouse is launching a new boutique hotel project in the NuLu neighborhood of
Louisville, with an expected opening date of spring 2023. Hotel Genevieve will be located at 730 E. Market Street and will
feature 122 rooms spread over six floors, a rooftop restaurant, “grocery concept” and bar. Rabbit Hole Distillery, a
neighbor to the unnamed new hotel, will help develop an art garden to enhance connectivity to the distillery from Market

New boutique hotel planned for Lexington’s Distillery District – A new upscale boutique hotel, The Manchester,
started construction in late 2021 at 941 Manchester Street in Lexington’s booming Distillery District. The project has an
opening date of spring 2023. The seven-story hotel will feature 125 hotel rooms, four restaurant and bar spaces including

Bourbon-centric hotel project planned for Frankfort – A boutique hotel is planned for the old Simon Warehouse,
located at 106 E. Broadway in the state’s capital city of Frankfort. The four-floor building is set to be transformed into a

Maker’s Mark founding family transforms home into exclusive overnight experience – Experience an intimate piece
of Kentucky bourbon history like an insider at The Samuels House near Bardstown. The 1820s manor was purchased by
eighth-generation whiskey maker Rob Samuels of Maker’s Mark Distillery, who restored the historical home to share his
family’s history with bourbon lovers and for select guests to stay in overnight. The house opened to guests in September.
There are three suites (sleeps up to eight people total), multiple bathrooms and a variety of sitting areas, including a

spacious back porch and patio. The home’s centerpiece is the parlor, featuring a handmade bar displaying 50 bottles of

The Grady boutique hotel with cocktail bar opens in Louisville – A new 51-room boutique lodging facility located just
steps away from popular Louisville attractions opened in 2021. The Grady Hotel is in a renovated 19th-century history
building in the Market District that originally housed a medicinal bourbon apothecary. Wild Swann, the hotel’s cocktail bar,
opened in June and offers hand-crafted beverages and small plates. The name pays tribute to previous residents of the
building, Swann-Abram Hat Co., an original designer of Kentucky Derby hats, and J.B. Wilder, the owner of the

Whiskey Row added another hotel – The Cambria Hotel Louisville Downtown-Whiskey Row opened in December 2021.
Featuring 128 guest rooms and nearly 2,000 square feet of meeting space, the five-story hotel also has a fitness center,

Kentucky Cooperage expanding used barrel production capacity – Kentucky Cooperage LP Ltd, a full-service used
barrel cooperage and subsidiary of Independent Stave Company, has announced a $4.1 million investment to expand
capacity in Marion County. The planned expansion will include a 41,000-square-foot addition, more than doubling the
current size of the 28,000-square-foot operation. Work is to start in spring 2022 and be completed by February 2023.

Buffalo Trace has accredited arboretum, launches online tool for visitors – Visitors to Buffalo Trace Distillery in
Frankfort can now more easily explore the distillery’s natural beauty, as it was recently awarded Level II arboretum
accreditation. Fans can learn about the distillery’s diverse collection of plants with a new online tool where users can
search plants by family, genus or location on site. The new online database is available here:

Nearly 10.5 million bourbon barrels aging in Kentucky – Bourbon production is booming in Kentucky! According to the
Kentucky Distillers’ Association (KDA), there are now more than two barrels for each Kentuckian. Kentucky distilleries
produced a record amount of bourbon in 2020, with nearly 10.5 million barrels now aging in warehouses across the state.
