WELCOME TO TRU-BILT SOLUTIONS – SUMMER 2020/2021 We’re at the end of another busy year of manufacturing and installing doors, docks and safety equipment. What a year this has been! Who would have thought this time last year that we’d be facing the most serious pandemic in more than 100 years, scanning QR codes and wearing face masks in an attempt to keep it at bay. Like so many New Zealand residents, including citizens now returning home in droves, we know how lucky we are to call this country home. It’s certainly something to be thankful for this festive season, as we tentatively look forward to 2021, hoping the rollercoaster ride will be slightly easier than it was this year. Bring it on! BREAKING NEWS: Tru-Door and Tru-Dock are moving out! We’ve made some big decisions around here! We don’t like to play favourites but… during the past few years we have certainly found our niche within Tru-Gard™ safety products. Demand has grown to the extent that we are now prepared to direct our entire attention toward full-time product development, manufacturing, and supply of this exceptional range of steel safety systems. After more than 25 years in the field, it is time to move on from our successful history in the door and dock market and look forward to a new era. Although we will miss the heavy construction aspect and we are still passionate about industrial doors and loading docks, our primary focus has shifted to protecting these valuable assets from accidental damage. Not to mention the need to keep workers safe from harm, something we have always been fixated on. So we’ve taken the bull by the horns and embraced our love of Tru-Gard™, which from now on will become ‘Our Thing!’. We can’t wait to have the capacity for more production, more time to develop and expand the range, and most of all, the opportunity to make workplaces safer for everyone. Don’t worry! Our Tru-Door and Tru-Dock designs will remain available on the market and local production will continue. Our trusted associates at Metalbilt will take control of the door and dock business in 2021 and continue the supply of our products both at home and abroad. Owned by international company ARA Group, Metalbilt is a New Zealand based door company with many years of experience in the field. We have full confidence in their skills and expertise, and we are working closely with them to make the transition smooth and simple. If you have any questions about how this change might affect existing contracts, installations, servicing or warranties, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. The cream of the crop – six new Tru-Dock Loading Pods at Synlait Milk plant This newly built dairy store in Canterbury is absolutely massive! It is Synlait Milk’s new 30,000m² warehouse near Dunsandel, the latest vast complex constructed to serve New Zealand’s milk powder industry. Tru-Bilt Industries was thrilled to be involved in the project, working alongside Calder Stewart to install six Tru- Dock™ Automatic Loading Pods to handle the enormous distribution volume that will literally pour out of this store in the years to come. A legacy we will look back on proudly as we move on. Tru-Dock™ Automatic Loading Pods provide leading edge technology for high-volume container loading, allowing all-weather loadouts, first-class workplace safety, and incomparable biosecurity measures for New Zealand exporters. It’s a custom-designed version of our standard Tru-Gard™ Barrier system, with 1100mmH support posts coated with a special XR coating system and finished in ‘safety yellow’ to match the rails. Every post is secured to the concrete with a 5-bolt footprint for maximum strength and stability. The top hand rail was specially designed with a square profile for easy attachment directly onto the support posts. Similarly, a lower guardrail of the same profile was added underneath the main barrier to ensure full safety for pedestrians, preventing accidental slipping through the gaps and falling out of the building. One year on at Townleys Road site - we’ve got plants, pets and plenty of work! While most people would agree that 2020 has not generally been the greatest of years, something special has made it thoroughly enjoyable for us at Tru-Bilt Industries. Just over a year ago we moved into our new office and manufacturing plant at 20 Townleys Road, Dunedin – and what a wonderful site it is! The extra room in the new warehouse has increased our capacity and output significantly, so it’s all go, everyday! The production team have so much space in the factory, they can literally drive a truck through it. So we’ve taken to filling the plant with a range of impressive new toys, such as a new plasma cutter, a steel folding machine, and we are eagerly awaiting our own powder-coating system. Exciting times! Company patriarch Lawrie Taylor has spent countless hours developing the section around the building, planting it out with masses of native plants and grasses. His garden is looking fantastic and has even become home to a couple of cute Tru-Bilt mascots. Our beautiful, albeit shy pukekos, Doris and Jock, are pretty fond of scratching around in Lawrie’s garden, much to his annoyance. But looking out at the amazing view soon relaxes him, and you can see why – just take a look at our fabulous setting! The video was taken by General Manager Mark Taylor on a beautiful spring day, otherwise known as a “Dunner Stunner”! Lawrie Taylor in the Tru-Bilt garden Jock the Pukeko… or is it Doris…? Australia – ready or not, here we come! Although Tru-Bilt has had a presence in Australia for many years, selling all three brands, Tru-Door, Tru- Dock and Tru-Gard, there has always been room for expansion in the market. Moving ahead with our new business direction, we plan to redouble our efforts in Australia, concentrating on Tru-Gard™ systems only. We will work with key partners in main centres across the country to supply our certified safety systems to more Australian businesses, keeping workplaces safe and sound across the ditch. As part of this marketing effort we have recently launched a new website built specifically for Australian clients to find out where they can source Tru-Gard™ safety products. Check out tru-gard.com.au, it’s looking good! https://www.tru-gard.com.au And we’ve made a good start already – this is a photo of Tru-Gard™ Safety Barrier and Personnel Gates that were recently installed at a large Australia Post depot in Melbourne.
