This information will be shared with the School first aiders; and where it is deemed necessary, all staff will be made aware of specific health- related matters, such as severe allergies or debilitating illness. All students have access to our staff first aiders, and there will always be a qualified first aider on site at any time. Parents are asked not to send their child to School if they are unwell and we follow strict rules with regards the period of absence for students who have a contagious illness or infection. During the School day, should a student feel unwell, they will generally be advised to wait until the end of a lesson or a break time before being sent to see a first aider in the medical room. Parents will be telephoned by Reception or the first aider if their child is taken ill during the day and needs to be collected. Day children who are taken ill during the day cannot be supervised by staff for any lengthy period of time and must be collected as soon as possible once parents have been contacted by the School. 17

Diversity is celebrated and all members of the School should flourish without fear. We seek to create an ethos of good behaviour where all members of the community treat one another with respect, recognising that this is the right way to behave. An important part of being at School is building relationships and learning how to deal with a variety of situations and challenges. Although it is often wise to wait a short time to allow you to try and resolve things, early intervention by the School is the most effective means of helping all concerned. THE LAST WORD from THE HEADMASTER Dear parents and students, I am passionate about enabling young people to fulfil their potential and students at KPS should be excited, challenged and inspired, and unconstrained by preconceived expectations. Our staff will support the development of each individual child so that students acquire confidence in their own ability and in the process discover their strengths, recognise their weaknesses and make the most of their talents. I believe that the excellence of academic and co-curricular provision are at the heart of an outstanding education and crucially that this is only realised if they are inextricably bound together by strong community values and ethos. The community at Kensington Park School is centred on each individual and the family values such as kindness, moral integrity, responsibility and a sense of service. Life at KPS is always a partnership between the child, his or her parents, and the school. We want parents to be part of this journey and you will be actively included in your child’s education – this is a joint collaboration between home and school and it is key that we work together. The will enable us all to ensure that your sons and daughters are supported appropriately at every turn and that they feel comfortable, respected, safe and secure in their environment. I look forward to welcoming parents and new students to our community and working together to enable every girl and boy make the most of their natural talent. J P Middleton Headmaster, Kensington Park School 22
