Find out the latest news and information in Graduate Education at GVSU in less than a minute, brought to you by The Graduate School (TGS): 1.You are invited to join us on Thursday, February 17, for the 3-Minute Thesis Competition from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the Loosemore Auditorium! Come support fellow classmates and learn about projects that are making an impact. 2.The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is working to make sure that they have continuous representation and that the GSA board members have continuity. Elections are currently being held for the 2022-23 board officers through February 24, 2022. 3.Registration for Student Scholars Day (SSD) is now open! The SSD showcase is an annual event that honors the research, scholarship, and creative work of GVSU students.Registration will be open until February 25, 2022. 4.Join the Virtual Winter Career and Internship Fair on February 24 for the opportunity to explore various career fields and meet with employers looking to hire for internships, part-time and full- time job opportunities! Students can register for the online event on Handshake. 5.Need zippers, backpack straps, or missing buttons fixed? The next Repair Clinic will take place on February 23 at an Alert Level of 2 or better. If the university remains at Alert Level 3, the Repair Clinic will run as a drop-off-and-pick-up-later event from February 21-25. 6.Biology and Annis Water Resources Institute graduate student, Jonathan Walt, received a grant from NASA's Michigan Space Grant Consortium. Awesome job, Jonathan!

Dareick Barr is currently a Federal Officer with the United States Capitol Police. “I was born and raised in small town Ohio, and after receiving a degree in Sociology/Criminology I began my Law Enforcement career in Washington D.C. In my current position with our agency’s Office of Background Investigations and Credentialing, I get the unique opportunity to reach out to potential Federal Law Enforcement candidates. I am extremely passionate about giving students from the Midwest information about our amazing career paths. A bit about my career: For the first 14 years of my career, I was assigned to the agency’s Capitol Division. My main functions were: VIP protection, securing special events, and emergency response. I was assigned to the protection details for 4 Presidential Inaugurations, 14 State of the Union addresses, the Pope’s visit to Washington, and several other historic events.”
UNIVERSITY OF TN NATION FORENSIC ACADEMY I’m excited to invite your students to join us for Session XI of the National Forensic Academy (NFA) Collegiate Program at the University of Tennessee Law Enforcement Innovation Center in Oak Ridge, TN. College Crime Fighters — Our Tennessee This 3-week residential program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, alumnus.tennessee.edu and offers an exceptional way for your students to gain specialized education with which Twenty-four students from 10 universities completed the National few can compete in today’s job market. Program dates are July 10-29, 2022. Participants must be admitted to UT Martin as “Guest/Transient” students for the 2022 Summer term, and all students earn 9 hours of academic credit with course grades (A-F) entered on official transcripts for transfer back to your institution. The $4800 cost includes all tuition and fees, housing (fully furnished 2 bedroom/2 bath apartments shared by participants), supplies, and personal protective equipment. Food, transportation, and personal expenses are additional. Payment plans are available; and, in most cases, students can use their financial aid.
