Ship Activities Continued The ice plug in the St. Clair river remains a concern and ice flushing operations will continue as required. Navigation of the area is feasible with icebreaker escort, and shipping may expect some delays in this problem area. CCGS SAMUEL RISLEY will head downriver this morning to conduct flushing operations and track preparation in the problem area before escorting the ALGOCANADA down from Sarnia in the afternoon. Risley will escort ALGOCANADA as far as Windsor. After completing escort, Risley may proceed to Windsor city dock to take-on potable water. CCGS GRIFFON will takeover the escort of the ALGOCANADA in the Detroit River and continue escort towards Pelee Passage until ALGOCANADA is in workable ice conditions and may continue unescorted towards destination Nanticoke. Griffon may return back to Windsor this evening for scheduled fueling at 09:00 Tuesday at Sterling in Windsor. Next tasking will likely be to assist tug MICHIGAN in the Western Basin. USCGC MORRO BAY will transit this morning from Detroit River to the ice jam area in the SCR to assist with flood control operations as required and escort assistance with SAMUEL RISLEY. Morro Bay replaces Neah Bay for this operation. Helicopter CG942 will be relocating from Parry Sound to Sarnia today. 4

Presentation – Great Lakes Synoptic Situation A broad ridge of high-pressure bringing cold, Arctic air is encroaching into the Great Lakes region from the Prairies. Over the next few days the ridge will build eastward. Tomorrow, a weak trough of low-pressure will pass over Lake Erie. On Thursday and Friday, another weak trough is expected to pass over the southern Lakes. Air temperatures across the Great Lakes region are forecast to be near or below normal values all week. Temperatures are especially cold in the western Lakes. © #8
