2018/2019 Atlantic Region / Région Atlantique Ice Atlantic was officially opened for the season on December 01, 2017 Co-Located within the Regional Operations Centre in St. John’s. Ice Office was staffed 24/7 by 2 Watch Keepers working a week on/week off rotation Ice Superintendent is available 24/7 ISS support provided by the Canadian Ice Service The Ice Office was closed on July 8, 2019 3
2018/2019 Atlantic Region / Région Atlantique First tasking for the season was sent out Nov 18, 2018 for Goose Bay Labrador. Final tasking was completed on July 8, 2018. The Atlantic Ice Office was active for a total of 232 days. Winter lasted 8 months 4
Ice Control Zones / Zones de contrôle des Glaces Transport Canada has authorized Ice Office to be more flexible in partially activating Ice Control Zones, specifically “U” and “V” We will endeavour to ensure all affected vessels that follow the “ JIGS” with regard to Ice Pilotage will not be expected to do so if the ice conditions don’t necessitate it. 5

Regional Boundaries Démarcation des Régions Objectives: • To facilitate the safe and timely movement of maritime traffic through and around ice-covered waters • To minimize the effect of flooding caused by ice jams • To assist in the re-supply of northern communities for which there is no commercial services 21
2019/2020 Atlantic Region / Région Atlantique • Ice Atlantic will be staffed December 1, 2019 – July 01st 2020 • Located within the New Regional Operations Centre at the Canadian Coast Guard base opened this year at 250 Southside road, St. Johns • Ice Office will be staffed 24/7 by 2 Watch Keepers working a week on/week off rotation • The Ice Supt will be available 24/7 • ISS support will be provided by the Canadian Ice Service • Ice information and routings will be sent to shipping via MCTS stations, Email or Phone, whichever communication method works best for the client and Coast Guard • Routes will always be provided on demand as soon as possible. 22

Daily Ice conference / Conférence journalière des glaces. C&A and Atlantic region will hold daily Ice conference calls on week days to present ice and weather conditions and forcasts and discuss CCG assets operations with stakeholders / Les Régions du Centre et de l’Arctique et de l’Atlantique tiendrons en semaine une conférence téléphonique journalière pour y présenter les conditions et les prévisions météos et glacielles et discuter des opérations des unités de la GCC avec les parties prenantes. 42
