– - 7 SMILE: WE’RE DISHING UP The secret ingredient for a fab holiday? – Great food. (Well, that’s what we reckon in Italy – and anywhere else, actually, judging from your pics of best-loved dishes!) FR024 France / Provence Bike and Barge Wimpie Van Coller and Camargue Guided tour
– - 9 HISTORY That look of contentment, at the end of the day, in the shadow of a castle, country villa, palazzo, ancient church, all speaking of bygone days and ways – and all still alive thanks to your photos. IT028 Italy / Sicily Bike and Hotel Tina Perlman Self-guided tour
– - 11 TRASGRESSIONS Let’s get this out of the way: choosing gelato flavours poses a moral dilemma. So our tip is why stop at the usual 2 scoops? You deserve it. (And no guilt trips either.) IT012 Italy / Venice to Bike and Barge Vivian Pontarin Mantua Guided tour

– - 19 WATERWAYS There was a time when artists’ easels would clutter the banks of the Seine. We have long been won over by the tranquility of a river and those sunsets, and we love adding new Bike and Barge tours to our brochure. FR098 France / Paris to Épernay Bike and Barge Guided tour Louise Everett
– - 21 POSTCARD FROM VENICE The backdrop’s the bell tower of St Mark’s, Customs Point, the domes of Santa Maria della Salute on the Grand Canal. In the foreground: aperitivo time aboard Vita Pugna, with the most spectacular views you could dream. 26 – - 27 THANKS, MUM The Gothic towers and spires of Tours Cathedral only materialised centuries after the first stone was laid.
