Mayor’s The second employee I would like to introduce is Terry Mayfield. Most of you may remember Terry from when he worked in the Parks Department. Today, you can find Terry working behind the Corner scenes maintaining and caring for all the city buildings with issues from the roof to the dirt. He has worked for Live Oak for the last seven years. Terry has lived San Antonio for 32 years and married his wife, Debra, 30 years ago. Terry and Debra had three children, Kasey who is a teacher for Great Hearts Live Oak, Cole who was a physicist and worked for a science company and Mackenzie who continues to find the perfect path for herself. Cole’s name may be familiar as a fund was established in his name to help with carbon monoxide detectors in the city. Cole passed away in Dear Residents, 2019 due to carbon monoxide poisoning so Terry and Debra wanted to establish this fund in his name with the Happy New Year to you and your families! During the Arbor Day celebration Mark planted a Mimosa tree at the Xeriscape Garden for all to enjoy. DRUG TAKE BACK HUGE SUCCESS This year’s Drug Take Back held on October 24th was a huge success once again. A big “thank you” to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Live Oak Police Department for hosting the Drug Take Back Day initiative. Each year, the purpose is to remove unused medication or vaping devices from Live Oak homes. The initiative prevents the misuse, theft, abuse or accidental ingestion of the drugs by family members including children and teens. Great job everyone! NICHA’S TEXAS ROADHOUSE GIVES BACK TO VETERANS HOSTS EMPLOYEE HONORS BREAKFAST During the observance of Veterans Day, Live Oak’s Texas Roadhouse On November 10th Nicha’s hosted the City’s Employee Honors Breakfast. provided free meal vouchers to over 1400 Veterans in honor of their City employees were honored by city administration for the years of service. Every year, Texas Roadhouse honors veterans and active service while enjoying a hot breakfast from Nicha’s. Nicha’s staff served members of the U.S. military with free meals, but this year because of specialty breakfast dishes and hot coffee to everyone in attendance. A the coronavirus crisis, they made some changes. In their efforts to feed huge thank you to Nicha’s for allowing the City to utilize the party space our vets while remaining safe from the virus, they handed out dinner to honor our employees.
