Business Class Tablets have finally arrived By Lee Harper The evolution of true business class tools has begun. Windows tablets slowly started to appear in large numbers late last year. There have been major improvements in both the operating system with Windows 8.1 (which works brilliantly for touch devices) and the processors, which are more powerful and less battery hungry. The concept of having a tablet that can be both your desktop device as well as your mobile work tool has finally arrived. No longer do you need a PC and a separate tablet or laptop, but now one device can do everything you need for work. These new tablets have the same type of processor (Intel Core i5) as found in most PC’s and Desktops. They can happily run your Office applications, allow you to plug them into projectors, and also attach USB devices. You can also attach external monitors so that your tablet can sport one or even two 22” screens whilst you are at your desk. This is a far cry from the features of the average Android or iPad tablet which doesn’t have any USB functionality! We so often hear of businesses that have Android or iPad devices and want to do more with them. The ability to run a full version of Microsoft Office, your accounting package and even demanding applications such as Photoshop, is all achievable on these modern Windows tablets.
