Welcome to the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot XIII Virtual National Finals Competition On behalf of 95,000 Air Force Association members worldwide, welcome and congratulations on being one of only 28 teams to qualify for the CyberPatriot XIII Virtual National Finals Competition! CyberPatriot, like many things, looked different this year as a result of COVID-19. Even though many school districts shifted to remote learning models and terminated many extracurricular programs, a remarkable 4,801 teams registered for this season. Teams were allowed to compete this season in a variety of models to accommodate social distancing and local pandemic protocols. You should be proud of your achievements, and we wish you the best of luck as you compete this week for the honor of being named National Champion. A special thank you is owed to our volunteer coaches, mentors and team assistants. Through generously sharing your time, talent and energy, AFA’s CyberPatriot program has become the largest team-based cyber defense competition in the world. And because of you we are shaping the global technical workforce. Our deepest thanks go to our Presenting Sponsor, the Northrop Grumman Foundation, and our other sponsors—AT&T, AT&T Foundation, Cisco, US Department of Homeland Security, Microsoft, Air Force Reserve, Bank of New York Mellon, Facebook, Symantec, The USAA Foundation, Air Force STEM, American Military University, Boeing, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Gannon University, Leidos, Mastercard, University of Maryland-Global Campus, and VMWare. CYBERPATRIOT The National Youth Cyber Education Program The National Youth Cyber Defense Competition puts teams of middle and high school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. Through a series of online rounds, students are scored on how well they identify and secure known vulnerabilities on a virtual network. Through the AFA CyberCamp program, schools and educational organizations conduct week-long camps using an AFA-developed curriculum kit that teaches students important skills in cyber safety and cybersecurity. The Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative (ESCEI) teaches students in grades K-6 the basics of cybersecurity, personal information protection, and online safety in an entertaining and engaging game-like format. The Cyber Education Literature Series introduces cybersecurity principles to our youngest audience in storybook format. The series features two books – Sarah the Cyber Hero and Ben the Cyber Defender. Both books, available for purchase online, follow the stories of two children who save their communities from cyber danger. CyberPatriot’s newest program is CyberGenerations, the Senior Citizens’ Cyber Safety Initiative.
