ABOUT KYM ELLERY Perth-born, Kym Ellery grew up in North Beach and as a child spent her time dreaming of creating a fashion brand. Although she left her hometown at the age of 18, her deep connection with Perth and its white sandy beaches never faded, even when studying at Central Saint Martins in London. Fascinated by fashion and growing up with her mother who is an artist, Ellery has developed an eye for volume, colour and style. These features are easily identifiable in her work as a designer today. In 2007, Ellery founded her eponymous Image: Kym Ellery, brand while employed as editor for the photographed by Sascha Australian fashion magazine, RUSSH. Heintze. Making garments at that time started out as a hobby, but the positive response to her first collection was undeniable. Celebrated for her structured designs and her vision of the modern woman, ELLERY is now an enterprise based in Paris, one of the three Australian labels officially recognised by the Paris Fashion Council – Federation Française de la Couture du Prêt-a-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode. “Being an Ambassador of the Urban Couture initiative is not only an honour, it is also a heart-warming invitation back home.”
