GRANTS, BURSARIES AND PRIZES In addition to our scholarships, we offer many prizes, grants and bursaries that can help you get the most out of your time at university. Excel in your studies as a student at Melbourne and you could pick up a coveted prize for academic achievement. We also have a range of grants available to help you undertake volunteering or leadership activities. You’ll also have the chance to benefit from bursaries designed to meet a variety of needs and ease the financial pressures of university, so you can focus on your studies. Many student bursaries have been established by generous bequests and donations. The University awards more than 1000 bursary payments each year, varying from $1000 to $10,000. Doug Brumley was awarded a string of scholarships during his Bachelor of Science (Honours) at the University of Melbourne. He firmly believes success breeds success, and he has the evidence to prove it — accumulating several awards throughout his studies including support from Newman College.
