New Sophisticated Email-based Attack
from Nobelium
• Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) has uncovered a wide-
scale malicious email campaign operated by NOBELIUM. This attack
does not impact Microsoft services directly – it is a phishing
campaign targeting approximately 3,000 individual accounts across
more than 150 organizations.
• Microsoft has posted a new Security Blog and security research
information regarding this sophisticated email-based campaign
that NOBELIUM has been operating. You can find more information
on the Microsoft On The Issues blog. Note, this is an active incident
and we will update as more information becomes available.
• Due to the fast-moving nature of this incident and its perceived
scope, Microsoft encourages organizations to investigate and
monitor communications matching characteristics described in this
