We’re the OVO Foundation, and we’re looking for our next trustee Our trustees play a big part in helping us keep our strategic promises, and meet the needs of those we’re committed to support: the next generation. So if you’re into changing the world, let’s meet.
We’re giving kids and young people all over the world a greener, fairer future We’re OVO Energy’s charity. And we’re really passionate about giving young people access to education, energy, nature, and a safe place to live. Everything we do spins around Plan Zero, our bold ambition to make this a better, carbon-free world. From installing solar panels in Kenya to building houses with young homeless people in the UK, we’re tackling the big problems as well as showing kids how to love our colourful planet. It’s a team effort, made possible by our OVO members, the organisations we partner with, and the helpful volunteers from our many teams. Ever since 2014.
Our programmes do good in all kinds of ways Climate Changers is teaching the next generation about the climate crisis Our projects help children and young people understand why they should care about the environment, and show them how they can protect it for years to come. Future Builders is breaking the cycle of homelessness This project helps young homeless people in the UK find their independence. They learn how to fix up derelict houses, and turn them into safe and affordable homes to live in.
Project Jua is giving thousands of people clean, renewable energy We’re installing solar panels to power schools and health clinics in rural Kenya. Giving over 300,000 people access to medical equipment and education in just 3 years. OVO Gives Back is about supporting, donating and volunteering Every year, we partner with local charities, hand out grants and put in the hard work too. Our teams have already spent thousands of hours volunteering… aaand counting! Here’s how all this looks in practice
It’s projects with lots of potential that gets us excited We want to do the most possible good with the kind donations we get. To see where we can help the most, we search for big gaps in funding and provision, then look for charities and organisations to tackle these issues with us. When we find the right project to invest in, we put our heads together and come up with a plan. If a pilot proves really effective, we start expanding it – reaching out to more investors to branch out that good.
We only invest in ideas that match our vision Finding simple solutions to big environmental and social problems is what we care about dearly. So naturally, our funding principles are built on that. Our projects must be powerful We always measure the impact our work has on people’s lives and the planet. We’re after trackable outcomes, so we know we’re doing the right thing. Our projects must be successful We always pilot projects before investing more time and money in them, to see what works best. We like to do fewer things – better and faster. The ideal is to achieve in months what might have taken years. Our projects must be able to grow We only get behind a project if it has the potential to grow, and truly make a difference far and wide.
