Set in the Hispanic community of Washington Heights, this musical features a hot score of salsa, merengue, hip hop and soul music. Usnavi runs a neighborhood bodega and dreams of earning enough to return to his home in the Dominican Republic while serving his colorful neighbors pursuing their own dreams. Huge pulleys and belts spinning above and below are turning and churning to produce flour, corn meal 4
and even apple cider. No gas or electricity are used, simply mother nature’s water power. The Mill rests on a steep and rocky slope at the bottom of the narrow gorge of Cedar Creek and a covered bridge spanning Cedar Creek completes the picture. After our tour we will spend some time enjoying a picnic lunch in this lovely location. Then we’re off to Yacolt for a scenic ride on the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad through the historic logging country of north Clark County, from the town of Yacolt to Lucia Falls and back. The hour and a half excursion passes through a 300 foot long tunnel and includes a stop at Moulton Falls Park and spectacular views of the Lewis River valley along the way. $99 Members; $109 General Public Includes transportation, admission, lunch and snack. Tipsoo Lake is beautiful throughout the year but when the wildflowers bloom at Tipsoo Lake you may feel like you stepped onto a Disney film set. The wildflower meadows are truly incredible! Since the blooms are dependent on weather patterns and snowmelt, it’s hard to predict when the wildflowers will make their debut, but typically we see blooms from mid July through mid August. No strenuous hike is required. The trail is simple to follow and relatively flat. We will have our Step-on Expert Bill Arensmeyer along to share his wealth of knowledge on wildflower and the geology of our favorite mountain. The trail is easy and just under a mile in length, but has no benches for resting. We’ll spend a couple of hours there, so those who wish to explore further can do so. Breakfast before the hike, and plenty of snacks are included. $89 Members; $109 General Public Includes transportation, breakfast and snacks. Leaves Olympia at 7:00 am; Lacey at 7:30 am Approximate return: 3:30 pm 11

Work began in1939, but was halted by World War II. Construction resumed in 1947, and the dam was completed in 1948. At that time, it was the highest rock and earth-filled dam in the world. Fishway facilities in Buckley were finished in 1949, and the Rim Trail and picnic areas were added in 1980. The core of the dam is a compacted blend of sand, gravel and glacial till. The Corps is pursuing an aggressive schedule to minimize risk to ESA-listed species. Recent years have seen large increases in the White River Chinook run. The 2017 count was 16,271 which was 14
the best seen in 71 years of return records.
