Why Transition Year ! • It is designed to act as a bridge between Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle by facilitating the smooth transition from the more dependent learning of the Junior Cycle to the more independent self-directed learning required for the Senior Cycle. • It is NOT compulsory here in St Augustine’s College.

Parents – How can you help? • Encourage your son/daughter to avail of the learning opportunities provided and get involved. • Download the school app, read the news and notifications section and encourage your child to enter competitions advertised. • Show interest in their projects & activities – question. • Read and sign their school journal on a weekly basis. • Share with us your skills and ideas. • Provide a complete school uniform and ensure it is worn. • Follow us on Twitter @friarycollege #TY • Understand importance of school attendance right to the end – it is vital for the overall success of the programme.
Cost €350 As TY is not compulsory in our school this is a stand alone payment. Should your son/daughter choose to do it there is no discount for having other children in the school. The cost per head is essential to run a successful programme. €200 is to be paid with application form. Closing date 22nd February 2021. In the event that your son/daughter is not offered a place in TY this €200 will be refunded. Remaining €150 must be paid by Friday 7th May 2021
