REHMAT - 47 Millionth Patient! 2021 LRBT has treated over 47 million patients and has impacted the lives of millions April - May - June 2 nd QUARTER more by enabling the treated to go back to leading fulfilling lives. A major chunk of Ghulam Rasool’s income goes towards paying rent but despite their combined efforts the brothers have not been able to own a house of their own. Rehmat is Ghulam’s middle child, since birth Rehmat has carved a special place in his family’s heart owing to his sunny disposition and friendly, helpful nature. Studying in grade one, Rehmat dreams of joining the army. Despite his young age, his vision for his future is clear. He wants to serve his country and to achieve that he strives to study hard and is already top of his class. Ghulam took Rehmat to their neighborhood clinic for a checkup where he was prescribed eye drops for two weeks. The itching improved temporarily but returned after a couple of days. Someone then advised Ghulam to take Rehmat to the local hospi- tal, where the doctor changed the eye drops but soon after Rehmat started to complain of hazy 2 vision. Distraught and clueless as to where to go for help, Ghulam spent many a sleepless night fearing permanent damage to his son’s eye. 2021 LRBT wins KE KHI Award LRBT is honored to receive the prestigious KE KHI Award for Public Health 2021. We are grateful to KE April - May - June 2 nd QUARTER for the recognition of our 35 years of services in eye care for the under- privileged GLT RAMADAN CAMPAIGN 2021 GLT’s Ramadan Campaign "Beyond sight - sustaining livelihoods" illustrated how an entire family is impacted when a breadwinner loses his vision. The campaign was endorsed through celebrity supporters: • Armeena Khan, • Junaid Khan, • Ainy Jaffri, & • Zeba Bakhtiar. Funding for 10,000 cataract surgeries was achieved thanks to the support received. SOUTHERN PUNJAB PROJECT Three GLT donors have donated generously towards LRBT's Southern Punjab programme, funding 2,656 cataract surgeries at LRBT hospitals in Lar, Khanewal and Arifwala. The project began in May 2021 and will continue until October 2021 USA LRBT USA launched a successful campaign in Ramadan and raised over half a million dollars in the holy month. For two years now, donors in the United States have been funding our Lar Multan hospital in Punjab and they will continue to do so for the next 12 months (June 2021 - May 2022). The biggest concerns with patients in Multan is cataract where people are sadly affected with; blurry vision, poor night vision, double vision, headaches and frequent change in optical power. It's estimated that over 12,300 major surgeries which include cataract surgeries with IOL implants (ECCE/ICCE + IOL, Phaco + IOL, SICS + IOL, ECCE / ICCE with AC, Secondary IOL, Phaco with AC + IOL) and glaucoma will be covered this year. Doctors will also perform minor surgeries for eye care issues such 10 as: chalazion, corneal stitch removal, cyst puncture, ectropian, entropian, epilation, foreign body removal, pterygium, sac wash, sub conjunctiva and tarsorrhaphy.
