Training and education 2021 For parents and carers raising children and young people Early Parenting Programs Many free programs are offered throughout the year by Maternal and Child Health. They are facilitated by health professionals and are offered to further support families in their parenting roles. Some of the programs are outlined below. For further information speak with your MCH nurse or call our service on 9404 8888. First Time Parent Group The First Time Parent Group is a seven week program which aims for children 6 weeks - 12 weeks to support first time parents in their new role. Adapted to suit the needs of families, discussion may include transition to parenthood, By invitation to first time parents sleep and settling, diet and active play, parenting resources, and forming playgroups. All first time parents are invited to attend this program soon after the birth of their baby. Drop In Services • Open Consultation Sessions Drop in for further review in between for children newborn - 3.5 years your child’s scheduled Key Age and Stage visits. • Breast Feeding Support Consult with one of our lactation consultants No appointment required or maternal and child health nurses for support with feeding your child breast, bottle or solid foods. Sleep and Settling This program is suitable for babies up to 3.5 years of age.
