York Region Trail Guide Table of Contents York Region Trail Guide York Region’s extensive network of trails and forests are one the region’s most cherished attractions. Born of ancient trails used by the aboriginal people, the trail network now extends throughout each of the nine municipalities. Trail explorers can choose between paved, urban trails, rugged forest paths in the York Regional Forest tracts, and even a wheelchair accessible trail. Hikers will be amazed at the diverse landscape, wildlife and vegetation waiting to be appreciated! This now abandoned rail line was originally constructed as a part of the Lake Simcoe Junction Railway, Boag Rd and over the years became a part of 48 the Grand Trunk Railway and then finally taken over by the Canadian Durham National Railway.
