JOIN US HERITAGE TORONTO 2019 TOURS There’s something for everyone on a Heritage Toronto tour — whether you’re visiting the city or have lived here all your life. Explore our rapidly-changing neighbourhoods, and learn the little-known histories of our city and the amazing life stories of Torontonians, past and present. For the 2019 season, we are excited to offer ten new tours, including two walks along Eglinton Avenue (pgs. 12, 13), and a tour of one of the city’s oldest cemeteries — the Toronto Necropolis (pg. 19). Tours run from May until October. Bring a water bottle, wear comfortable shoes, and dress for the weather — tours go rain or shine! Tour Registration We encourage you to register at heritagetoronto.org. Not only will registration guarantee you a spot on the tour, it’s also the best way to receive updates and additional tour materials. Donation of $10 encouraged Heritage Toronto is a charity that must raise the majority of our operating funds. We only succeed in our work because of our supporters. Please donate $10 on tours to help us cover costs. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more. QUESTIONS? For more information on our tours, please contact us at 416-338-0684 or HTdesk@toronto.ca. About the Cover This year, we celebrate the 25th year anniversary of our Tours program. In 1994, the program launched with 18 tours. Since then, we have travelled throughout the city in partnership with hundreds of local volunteers — by foot, by bike, and by bus. We have explored a wide range of subjects from Toronto’s immigration to its LGBTQ histories; from the development of neighbourhoods to the heritage of our waterfront, ravines, and parks. We have tackled timely issues and embraced new ways of delivery, including our first-ever digital tour on offer this season — Dundas + Carlaw: Made in Toronto (pg. 15). Celebrate with us this year, and join us on one of our 65 walks and bus tours. Images by Herman Custodio, Emily Macrae, Hanifa Mamujee, Agnes Manivit and Alex Willms. Heritage Toronto 2019 Tours 1
