Regatta Newsletter #3 March 2021 School Rankings World Wide…Are your Grandkids in School yet? What is happening in America’s Education System? Education levels vary between countries around the world. In general, people in underdeveloped and undeveloped countries do not have access to quality education or education at all. Those in developed nations have higher literacy rates and at least a basic high school education. According to the Global Partnership for Education, education is considered to be a human right and plays a crucial role in human, social, and economic development. Education promotes gender equality, promotes peace, and increases a person's chances of having more life opportunities. The best countries for education are ranked based on a perception-based global survey. This survey used a compilation of scores from three equally-weighted attributes: a well-developed public education system, would consider attending university there, and provides top-quality education. As of 2018, the top ten countries based on education rankings are: 1) The United Kingdom 2) The United States 3) Canada 4) Germany 5) France 6)Australia 7) Switzerland 8) Sweden 9) Japan 10) The Netherlands Education rankings depend on many different aspects of learning, like completing primary school or graduating high school. Let's take a look at countries by categories on a smaller scale to give you an idea of how each country's education systems perform on average. Countries by High School Completion Rate Finland Japan Russia Kazakhstan Croatia Countries by Collegiate-Level School Completion Rate China Hong Kong South Korea Japan Russia March 2021 4
Regatta Newsletter #3 March 2021 Canada is the most educated nation. Over 56% of adults have continued their education past high school. Coming in second is Japan. Over 50% of adults in this country have completed some form of post- high school education. Falling right in behind Japan is Israel, with 49.9% of adults having finished a higher education program. Other nations that were ranked highly in education based on this data include: Korea United Kingdom United States Australia Finland Norway Luxembourg Another measurement of the most educated countries is through the U.S. News & World Report's Best Countries for Education list. These rankings were based on three factors: a well-developed public education system, top-quality education, and whether respondents would consider attending university in that nation. Based on this list, the United Kingdom comes out on top as having the world's best education system. In second place is the United States, about 70% of graduates go on to a higher education program. In third place is Canada, followed by Germany and France. A different list, the World Economic Forum's Global Competitive study, ranks Finland as having the most well-developed education in the world. Ironically, despite the United States having the second-best education system globally, it consistently scores lower than many other countries in benchmarks such as math and science. According to the Business Insider report in 2018, its education ranking was 38th in math scores and 24th in science. The United States' education rankings have been falling by international standards over the past three decades, as the government has decreased education funding by 3%. Still, other countries have increased their education funding. https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/education-rankings-by-country You can help! See the little white box behind the washing machine? WELL… THIS is your FLOODSTOP! Residents are now having to replace the batteries NOW… This is to prevent flooding and crashing through your your neighbors ceiling under you…. Please take the time now to have someone pull out your washer and replace the batteries in 2021… YOU won’t REGRET it! Better to change the batteries than purchase a new Floodstop! “I did not know we were supposed to change batteries at least once a year. I never did, so mine corroded and ruined my floodstop.” I had to order a new Floodstop from On-site Pro Inc. They do not sell them at Lowe’s or Home Depot. It cost $221.47. People need to check theirs so this doesn’t happen. http://www.getfloodstop.com/FloodStop_for_Washing_Machines_p/fs34h-90.htm Many Thanks to Stephanie Streeter for this important info… I had mine checked and I only needed new batteries WHICH is way less expensive than a new Floodstop for $221.47! Regatta Newsletter #3 March 2021 New Kid on the Block…. Plant-Based Burger Chain Set to Launch in Wayzata (From Crisp & Green CEO Steele Smiley comes Stalk & Spade with franchise plans this year. By Allison Kaplan Twin Cities Business March 02, 2021 While the fast-food giants race to add a token plant-based burger to their menus, restaurant entrepreneur Steele Smiley is poised to take the healthy eating movement a step further with an entirely plant-based fast casual burger joint opening next month in Wayzata. Don’t worry, the fries won’t taste healthy, Smiley promises. Stalk & Spade is scheduled to open April 22—Earth Day—in the former Starbucks spot at 740 E. Lake St., across the street from Smiley’s Crisp & Green flagship. Like Crisp & Green, which recently announced national expansion plans, Smiley plans to franchise Stalk & Spade. And he’s confident his plant protein concept can be a market leader. “I believe in five years we’ll be in every market in the country.” The Stalk & Spade menu will feature plant-based alternatives to hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, and shakes. Even the smoked gouda on the mushroom burger will be made with plant-based ingredients. The recipes are proprietary—Smiley’s team has been developing and testing for months.
