      Assam government announces 'Arundhati' scheme
           o   Assam government has announced a scheme named 'Arundhati' scheme on
               6 February 2019.
           o   Under the scheme, one 'tola' of gold will be presented to brides from
               communities where it is customary to provide gold at the time of the
               wedding.
           o   The scheme will benefit poor families of the state who cannot afford to gift
               gold ornaments to their daughters at their wedding.

      Cabinet approves unified regulator for IFSCs
           o   The Cabinet has approved the setting up of a unified authority that would
               regulate all the financial services in International Financial Services Centres
               (IFSC).
           o   Currently, the banking, capital markets and insurance sectors in IFSCs are
               regulated by multiple regulators, i.e. RBI, SEBI and IRDAI.
           o   This will be done through the International Financial Services Centres
               Authority Bill, 2019.

           o   Ministry of Textiles, in association with Central Silk Board, organised an
               event, 'Surging Silk - Accomplishment and way forward', in New Delhi on 9
               February 2019.

               February 2019.

           o   The Union Cabinet approved the Framework Agreement between India and
               Indonesia on cooperation in the exploration and uses of outer space for
               peaceful purposes.
           o   Government e Marketplace (GeM) and Competition Commission of India
               (CCI) signed a MoU on 6 February 2019.
           o   India and Bangladesh have signed a MoU for training 1800 Bangladesh Civil
               Servants at the National Centre for Good Governance.
      MoU & Agreements - I (04-09 Feb 2019)
           o   Oppo, a Chinese smartphone company, signed a MoU with the Telangana
               government to develop and support the startup ecosystem in the state.

o   India has signed a MoU with Russia for fast-tracking International North
               South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
           o   Indian Coast Guard and the Airport Authority of India signed a MoU for
               coordination in the aeronautical, maritime search and rescue operations.

           o   Fino Payments Bank partnered with Suryoday Small Finance Bank on 4th
               February to launch a sweep account facility.
           o   The Reserve Bank of India lowered the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25%
               on 7th February 2019.
           o   On 7 February 2019, the Reserve Bank of India raised the limit for
               collateral-free agriculture loans to ₹1.6 lakh from ₹1 lakh.

           o   Nilambar Acharya was appointed as Nepal's ambassador to India.
           o   Sanjiv Ranjan was appointed as India's Ambassador to the Republic of
               Colombia.

           o   Shri Sailesh assumed the charge as Secretary of Ministry of Minority Affairs.

               2019.

           o   The National Film Development Corporation of India has been declared
               winner under the Mini Ratna category by the Ministry of MSME.

           o   Yes Bank was announced as the winner of the 9th edition of Aegis Graham

               science.

           o   World Cancer Day is observed every year on 4th February to raise awareness
               and encourage the prevention and treatment of cancer.
           o   The National Road Safety Week was launched on February 4, 2019, by the
               Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
           o   Ministry of Health and Family Welfare conducted its eighth round of
               National Deworming Day (NDD) across the country on 8 February 2019.

           o   The top ten revenue generating monuments during 2015-18 are Taj Mahal,
               Red Fort, Agra Fort, Qutub Minar, Sun Temple Konark, Humayun's Tomb,
               Ellora caves, Mamallapuram monuments, Khajuraho monuments, and
               Ajanta Caves.
           o   On 8 February 2019, the Jammu and Kashmir government approved the
               creation of a separate Administrative Revenue Division for Ladakh.

           o   Ramit Tandon won the final of the Seattle Open, a Squash event by defeating

               T20Is.
           o   Jeremy Lalrinnunga won the silver medal in men's 67-kilogram category at
               the EGAT's Cup International Weightlifting Championships in Chiang Mai,
               Thailand.
