Thank you from the Director of Athletics
In looking forward to completing my fourth year as the Director of Athletics, I am truly amazed at the strength and
resiliance of our student-athletes and this university as a whole. Their determination inspires and drives me to continue
to advance Panther Athletics in a positive direction this upcoming year. We have provided, and will continue to provide,
a positive and successful experience for our student-athletes, graduating our student-athletes, preparing them to be
successful and providing opportunities to compete for championships in their respective sports.
I would personally like to thank everyone for attending this evening’s fundraiser. Your support of EIU and specifically
our student-athletes is something we all value very much. We continue to strive to create the best experiences for all of
our sport programs and the 450 student-athletes who work hard every day in the classroom and in competition.
Your generosity tonight and throughout the year, continues to allow them to be successful in every way.
Our sport programs have achievements in all they do. Fifteen teams achieved over a 3.00 gpa in the fall 2017. 68% of our
student-athletes have a GPA of 3.00 or above. EIU lead the Ohio Valley Conference with 33 Medal of Honor awards and
had the most selections to the Commissioner’s Honor roll (136 student-athletes). Football earned the team academic
achievement award during the 2016-17 academic year. This award is given annually to the member institution’s team
with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher.
This event is not possible without the incredible support from the Panther community. The businesses and individuals
who have contributed the many auction items here this evening, all with the idea of making Panther Athletics better and
stronger is very much appreciated. I have been so impressed with the many, many individuals who make up our Spring
Fling committee. Their commitment and dedication help make this benefit auction successful every year. That is what
makes EIU so special!

Silent Auction
1. Silent Auction items will be available for bidding UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 7:50 P.M.
2. Silent Auction zones will close prior to the Live Auction upon notification by the auctioneer.
For more information, see the evening’s schedule in the inside front cover of this book.
3. Please print your bidding number legibly or place your bidding number stickers alongside the
bid amount you wish to bid upon.
4. Bidding numbers must be written or in the process of being written at the time of the Silent
Auction zone’s closing. The closing bid highlighted by the Spring Fling zone official constitutes
the winning bid. His/her decision is final.
Live Auction
1. The Live Auction will begin at approximately 8:15 p.m. and will continue without interruption
until all items have been auctioned.
2. In order to enter a bid in the live auction, the bidder must raise his/her bidding paddle high and
attract the attention of the auctioneer. This action must be repeated each time the bidder initiates
or increases the bid. Each bid legally obligates the bidder to pay the bid price in full if his/her bid
is deemed the high bid by the auctioneer. The auction will be fast-paced; bids must be made quickly.
3. Use only the bidding paddle assigned to you to bid. Your bidding number is your identification.
EXPRESS PAY
Make checking out hassle free with our convenient express pay option by having your credit card swiped
when you check in. When you’re ready to check out, give your bid number to the cashier. Your card will
be processed. Sign the receipt and pick up your items.
Checkout
Checkout will open following the Silent Auction upon notification by the auctioneer. Checkout is located in the EIU
Student Recreation Center Dance Studio on the same level as the Lantz Arena court.
1. Please allow 45 minutes after zone closings for cashier to register winners prior to paying.
2. Full payment is required on the event night (April 7) and can be paid by cash, check, AMEX, Visa,
Discover, or MasterCard at checkout. Split payments will not be accepted.
3. The cashier will provide you with a proof of payment which you will then take to pick up your auction
item(s) at the Silent Auction/Live Auction zone(s) where you bid on the item.
4. Items may be removed that evening only by exhibiting proof of payment to the zone managers.
5. All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds except where stated.
6. A convenience pick-up will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. OR Monday, April 9, in the main office,
2018 Lantz Arena. Please utilize this option if you need to arrange pick-up of larger items.
7. If you need an item delivered or stored temporarily, please make arrangements at checkout or call
Jen Peterson at 217.581.6014 to schedule pickup.
