The Rudy Gelnett Summer Music Series is an all summer event which hosts a wide variety of live music from blues to jazz to rock. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. The Academy Award-winning film comes to life in this beloved take on a classic fairytale. Aboard the ocean liner S.S. American, nightclub singer- turned-evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England, where her friend, Billy Crocker, has stowed himself away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt. But there’s a problem: Hope’s fiancé, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, is on board, as well as Public Enemy #13 (Moonface Martin) and his sidekick Bonnie. Call for Artists: The Milton Art Bank will be hosting an event this summer, Art on the Street, part of which will include an art fair (AOSfair). They are currently seeking applicants who might like to show/sell their work. Since 1992, the North Mountain Art League has provided visual artists from throughout our region with opportunities to meet each other, share workshops, and exhibit their work together. Art League members work in many media, including painting, drawing, photography, digital art, fiber, jewelry, glass, and mixed- media sculpture, and the show at The Exchange will have examples of all of these. No device is needed to learn the basics of this family-friendly treasure hunt game (6/28). We'll see the lamb flock at their most playful time of day, just before sunset. We'll use the border collie to move the ewes to fresh pasture and see how those piglets are doing with their electric fence training. June 26 - THE SECRET OF NIHM (1982) Adapted from Robert C. O'Brien's acclaimed children's book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H., the film is about a widowed mouse whose home is threatened; also, one of her children is gravely ill. On her way to find help, she discovers NIMH, a secret society of highly-intelligent rats who have escaped from a nearby science lab. The rats help the widow to protect her family and home. This summer the Campus Theatre also presents a free Clint Eastwood Course and a Hitchcock series. Sunset! Susquehanna! with the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper This Paddle & Play splash event for paddlers of all ages and abilities includes a catered breakfast, a professionally guided kayak trip on the Lower Loyalsock Creek to the West Branch Susquehanna River (approximately 12 miles); environmental education throughout the paddle and during presentations, a picnic lunch and post-paddle celebration with live music by Susquehanna Jamcrackers. And mark your calendar to join us for our Floating Classroom Series for Families & River Explorers. Once a month we’ll meet for a fun and educational learning experience aboard the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat. These morning cruises are for all ages and cover a range of topics from wildlife to healthy water! Our FREE Ladies Clinics are for Beginner players who want to have fun learning the fundamentals including grip, stance, alignment and the full swing and developing skills for pitching, chipping and putting on a grass putting green. More advanced players will learn tips and drills that will help improve their game and score. Participants will learn to hit longer and straighter, and tips for those Three Ponds specialty shots. Don't forget to round up the crew and stick around for a few laughs at the Nickle Plate Bar & Grill (hosting live music the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month from 6-9 p.m.). June 26-31: Lessons for Children- Tuesdays at 2 p.m. for ages 10-13 and 6 p.m. for ages 14-16. Our FREE Kids Clinics provide youth golfers the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Junior Clinics (ages 7-14) Learn the fundamentals of the game in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Each clinic follows a "Hands-On" two-hour format. At the end of camp (each Wednesday), junior golfers will be served a meal and root beer float compliments of the Nickle Plate Bar & Grill. Camp Dates: July 16, 17, 18 and Aug 6, 7, 8. Clubs are recommended, but not required. We will have a limited availability of clubs to share. Portraying the roles of those significant in the discovery and history of the caverns, interpreters will offer a special historic tour of both Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks. Tickets for adults and combo tickets for children, with panning for gems, will be offered at 85% of the regular adult admission price. Visitors of all ages can also participate in a series of workshops featuring hands-on activities, games and crafts. Offered at no additional charge, visitors may participate in a Crazy About Caves, Rocks Rock, What Goes Down...Must Come Up, Intro to Speleology, and Going Batty workshops. For many more events, go to www.VisitCentralPA.org and click on “Events” Stories of Early Life Along the Susquehanna River about the native American tribes who lived near the confluence of the Susquehanna River; Pennsylvania soldiers and Fort Augusta; life, trade, and transportation along the River; and the life of Joseph Priestley. These tours on Thursdays, June 28, July 12 & 26, Aug. 9 & 23, and Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. will cost $28. Professor of German and Humanities at Bucknell University, Dr. Katherine Faull, will be presenting History of Chief Shikellamy and Our First Local Settlers, accounts of Native American life and the legacy of Chief Shikellamy, along with stories of Moravian missionaries who settled here in the 1700s. These tours are on Mondays at 6:30 p.m., July 9 & 16, Aug. 6 & 13 and are $28. Also available again this year are Pontoon Boat Tours to see the Penn DOT bridge construction site on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River every Monday through Friday at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. through the month of June and again in late August and early September. Evening tours will also be scheduled as needed. Reservations are required by calling LAO at 570-286-2148. LAO is open seven days a week through Labor Day offering pontoon boat, Jet Ski, canoe, kayak and bike rentals; on-water ethanol-free gasoline sales; and towing service to distressed watercrafts; along with a retail store with ice cream, snacks, drinks, bagged ice and boating and fishing supplies.
