VISITING WITH MEMBER-OWNERS IS ONE OF THE THINGS I ENJOY MOST
about working for the Credit Union. A lineman friend recently stopped
by the office. While that’s not that unusual, on this visit he wasn’t dressed
in typical lineman gear. He was wearing a vintage Reddy Kilowatt costume!
UPCU and Utah Lineman’s Rodeo Committee member,
Jennylynn Tillotson-Deveraux, rescued the costume from the trash
and kept it safely stored for many years. She said she thought that
someone would appreciate its significance and eventually find
a use for the relic. Jenny convinced Rodeo Chairman, Justin Halloran,
to dress in the costume to make the official donation to the Credit Union.
Needless to say, this visit was an especially memorable one.
The Credit Union has been collecting important memorabilia like this
for many years. And, I am really excited to report that in the next
few weeks we will complete a permanent display of some of the things we have
accumulated. We are calling the space The Induction, and the first location
will be at our Main Office in Murray. Exhibited items will rotate and include
background information and stories to not just preserve but to celebrate
all our history and association.
I want to extend my appreciation to all those who have given pieces of their
own past for The Induction. We welcome future donations you feel
are worthwhile to share with others. I promise they will always be safe
(and honored!) at the Credit Union.
                                                                                      Inside Fall 2019

     FALL 2019
THESPARK - Utah Power Credit Union
Five years ago, the Murray office welcomed Becky Baggett
as Human Resource and Employee Education Development Manager.
Becky is exceptional in her role at the Credit Union because
of her kind heart and willingness to help anyone she meets.
In 2005, Becky returned to the workforce after her husband had health
trouble and knew she needed a degree. Not only did she complete
a Bachelor’s in Business Management, she earned
a Master’s in Adult Education while working and raising her five children.
Becky is passionate about adult education, which shows
each month when she hosts trainings for Credit Union staff.
When asked about her favorite part of her job, Becky replied,
“What’s not to like? I am very fulfilled.”
Outside of the Credit Union, Becky enjoys reading and making crafts
of all kinds. She loves to read anything by Willa Cather, her favorite book
is Villette by Charlotte Bronte, and she finishes at least 50 books a year.
This summer, Becky welcomed her first grandchild and crafted
him a quilt, an afghan, a crochet lion, and a handmade quiet book.

Amy Gonzales serves members in Northern Utah
as a Relationship Officer in the Ogden office. Amy’s favorite
part of working for the Credit Union is helping members with their
financial needs and working with her co-worker, Robyn, in the office.
Robyn says, “Amy is loved by members and everyone who works
out of the Ogden office. She is a joy to be around.” As members come
through the door and are warmly greeted by Amy’s beautiful smile,
it’s clear that her members have become family. Amy is committed
to building relationships and genuinely caring
                                           for her members’ financial needs.
When not in the office, Amy is either working her other job or spending
her time relaxing. Amy loves to sing, even though she says she can’t
carry a tune, and wanted to try out for American Idol by singing
“Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston.
