                                   JUDY DOVE - HAIKU
   Judy M. Dove is a playwright, director, and teaching artist. She has directed for the Raleigh Little
Theatre, Forest Moon Theater, NRACT, WCPSS, Special Theatre Arts Raleigh, and has been an adjunct
professor in the Meredith College Department of Dance and Theatre where she worked as a theatre
 teaching artist for the FuHsing Program from Taipei. She has written several plays for youth, based
on NC history, which have been toured by the RLT Storytellers to Go! and two of her short plays were
 selected to be a part of the Goodly Frame Theatre’s ZoomFest 2020. Most recently, she received an
  Artist’s Support Grant from the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County for which she has
   written a new full-length play. She is the recipient of the NCTC K-12 Theatre Educator Award, the
    Capital University Alumni Achievement Award, the United Arts Council of Raleigh/Wake County
Business Support of the Arts Award in Arts Education, an Artsplosure Artists’ Residency at the Oyster
    House in Beaufort, and numerous awards for Excellence in Directing from the North Carolina
  Theatre Conference. Memberships include Dramatists Guild of America (Associate), and the North
      Carolina Theatre Conference, for which she served on the Board of Directors for 13 years.

      MARILYNN BARNER ANSELMI - MITIGATING DAMAGES
  Marilynn and her partner have lived in North Carolina for 30 years. In her pre-writing life, Marilynn
 taught in many settings including middle school, community college, university and the state prison
      system. In 2007, Marilynn’s son was killed in an accident while attending DePaul University in
   Chicago. She turned to writing plays in an attempt to deal with this devastation. Since then, she’s
 written thirteen full length scripts, several short scripts and a couple of short screen plays. Her work
 has been produced in 17 states (and counting) including Pride Films and Plays (Chicago); The Studio
Theatre (Washington, DC); National Black Theatre Festival (Winston-Salem, NC); The Detroit Repertory
Theatre; August Wilson Center (Pittsburgh, PA); Tennessee Stage Company (Knoxville, TN); The Blank
 Theatre (Hollywood, CA); SNAP Productions (Omaha, NEB); Open Fist Theatre (Los Angeles, CA); and
                                        American Bard Theatre (NYC).
 Marilynn won the 2019 Mario-Fratti Political Playwriting Award (Castillo Theatre) and the 2015 Mark
    Gilbert Award, NC Playwrights Project. Her work has been named a semi-finalist for the Eugene
   O’Neill Conference, a finalist for Playwrights First (National Arts Club, NYC), finalist for New Work
     Festival (Phoenix Theatre), finalist for the Susan Nim Award (Last Frontier Theatre Conference,
    Alaska), semi-finalist for the Maxim Mazumdar New Play Competition (Buffalo, NY), semi-finalist
 PlayPenn Conference (Philadelphia, PA). Her short movies have been included in numerous national
  film festivals and You Wouldn’t Expect won an award at the 2016 Black International Film Festival,
                                               Berlin, Germany.

                   CAROL TORIAN - THE WANING HOURS
 Carol Torian is a playwright, fiction writer, producer, visual artist, and gallerist from North Carolina.
Productions of her work have included Cracked Grain for Cary Playwrights’ Forum and Ruby Slipper
  Fringe Festival; The Traditionalists for Cary Playwrights’ Forum and the Women’s Theatre Festival;
Kissing Cousins for Cary Playwrights’ Forum and The Waning Hours, which was previously presented
      as a staged reading at Burning Coal Theatre and Ruby Slipper Fringe Festival. Carol’s work
       crisscrosses racial, cultural, and socioeconomic boundaries to promote understanding,
          appreciation, and awareness. She received her bachelor’s from Meredith College.

           TAMARA KISSANE - NICE WHITE PARENTS 2016
  Tamara Kissane is a Durham-based playwright, theatre-maker, parent, and podcaster for Artist
    Soapbox(www.artistsoapbox.org). In 2020, Tamara was the Piedmont Laureate and received
   Outstanding Contribution to the Arts from Chatham Life & Style. She is currently working on a
 musical commissioned by Honest Pint Theatre. Tamara is a co-founder and playwright for Curious
  Theatre Collective and leads Soapbox Audio Collective Writers’ rooms, Public Works events, and
    Creative Accountability Groups. Her stage-plays, The New Colossus and Master Builder were
   commissioned and performed by Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern in 2016 & 2018. She has
 produced, written, and directed audio dramas including the Declaration of Love Anthology (2020),
   The New Colossus (2020), Master Builder (2019), Creekside with Winona (2021), and several in
                                           development.

             ADRIENNE EARLE PENDER - KALEIDOSCOPE
Adrienne Earle Pender is a playwright living in North Carolina, and has been writing since 2001. Her
   plays have been produced around the country, including: Somewhere In Between, which had a
    staged reading at the Drama Book Shop in New York in 2010; a staged reading at Wordsmyth
 Theater in Houston, TX in May, 2014; and Somewhere In Between received a full production from
   Theater in the Park in Raleigh in September 2014; The Strawberry Girl, which received a staged
reading at the Women’s Theater Festival in Raleigh, NC, in July 2019. Adrienne’s play, “N,” was named
a finalist in the FutureFest 2015 Festival of New Works in Dayton. It received a staged reading at the
  Eugene O’Neill Festival in Danville, CA, and made its world premiere production in Raleigh, NC at
Theatre in the Park in February 2017, with subsequent productions in Detroit and Houston in 2020,
    and productions planned for Washington DC in 2021, and in Cleveland in 2022. Adrienne was
      named a Tao House Fellow by the Eugene O’Neill Foundation, and completed her Artist-in-
   Residence residency in September 2015. She holds an MA and an MFA in Creative Writing from
                       Wilkes University, and is a member of the Dramatist Guild.

JEFFREY SWEET
Jeffrey Sweet was part of the wave of writers, actors and directors who transformed Chicago’s off-
Loop theater scene beginning in the Seventies. Chicago hosted more than 20 productions of his
works, including premieres of Flyovers (Jeff Award), The Action Against Sol Schumann (ATCA Award),
American Enterprise (ATCA and Kennedy Center Awards, Best Play Citation), Court-Martial at Fort
Devens (Audelco Award), Bluff (Jeff nomination), With and Without, Porch and his solo show, You Only
Shoot the Ones You Love. His most-produced play, The Value of Names, was a particular favorite of
Jack Klugman, who starred in it in six theaters, including the George Street Playhouse and the Falcon
where it was an LA Times critic’s choice. Jeff’s most recent play, Kunstler, played off-Broadway in 2017
at 59E59th Street after runs at Hudson Stage and in the NY Fringe (where it was named a Time Out
critic’s choice); it moved to an extended run at Barrington Stage.

He wrote the book of the musical What About Luv? (a/k/a Love) starring Nathan Lane and Judy Kaye
(based on Murray Schisgal’s comedy, music by Howard Ashman and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead) and
the book and lyrics of I Sent a Letter to My Love (based on the novel by Bernice Rubens, music by
Melissa Manchester, directed by Patricia Birch). What About Luv? had an extended run in London
and played two years in Tokyo.

For TV, Jeff wrote for Norman Lear, was executive story editor of an ABC series starring Michael
Learned called Hothouse, wrote two years of soap opera (Another World and One Life to Live) and
wrote the shooting script for the Peabody Award-winning TV movie version of Hugh Whitemore’s
Pack of Lies starring Ellen Burstyn and Alan Bates.
He also has written two books on dramatic technique (The Dramatist’s Toolkit and Solving Your
Script) and books on Second City (Something Wonderful Right Away) and the O’Neill Theater Center
(The O’Neill). His newest book is What Playwrights Talk About When They Talk About Writing,
featuring 18 interviews with major contemporary American and British playwrights, published by
Yale. He has taught or guest lectured at dozens of universities and professional schools including
NYU, Rutgers, the New School, the University of Richmond and Wagner College. His articles have
appeared in American Theatre, Newsday, The Dramatist and Dramatics, for which he wrote a column
for three decades.
He is an alum of the Lehman Engel BMI Musical Theater Workshop, New Dramatists and the O’Neill,
a member of Ensemble Studio Theatre, a Tony voter, and a lifetime member of the Council of the
Dramatists Guild. He is a graduate of NYU, where he studied film with Martin Scorcese, songwriting
with Paul Simon and critical writing with Clive Barnes.
He currently teaches classes and runs seminars through his website, The Negotiating Stage

Annie Taft is the author of over 30 plays which have been produced locally, regionally and
nationally. She is also a director, producer and current president of Odyssey Stage based in
Carrboro, NC. She is the creator of the audio drama “The Suffragist Project” in collaboration with
the Triangle Playwrights which is currently streaming on your favorite podcast service.

BRIAN LORD
Brian Lord has been a Director, Actor, and Writer in the NC Theater community starting in 1997. He
has been a Director for North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theater since 2002 directing many plays
including Steel Magnolias, The Hobbit (also writer), and Lion in Winter. He has also been an Actor at
NRACT. Some of his performances were Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Gary in I Hate
Hamlet, and the Wizard in Wizard of Oz.

CHUCK GALLE
Chuck Galle performed on Raleigh stages during the early 80s and won a Cantey for Azdak in
“Caucasian Chalk Circle” in 1981. He was invited to found a drama group in Central Prison in 1983
and over the next five years produced and directed well known plays, with some of the general
public (up to 300) invited into the audience. The first performance “The Caine Mutiny Court Martial”
was graced with Her Honor Isabella Cannon. Chuck performed and directed in Portsmouth NH
and Boston, MA, and made several dozen TV Commercials in the period 1995 - 2012. He partnered
as a reviewer with Martha Keravuori in the Triangle area from 2012 to 2019.

DANI JESSANT
Dani Jessant is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and has lived in North Carolina since 2015. She
serves as a co-writer for the web series, "Urk My Nerves" as well as a contributing play reviewer for
RDU onStage. Dani is an author of children's books. One of her books, Brown Girl All Cult Up, is a
personal story that reveals her experiences with religion and "self-love". "Self-love" has become her
mission as she promotes it in her workshops everywhere, which includes a significant component
of the importance of financial literacy. Dani is a proud mom of three wonderful children.

ERIC WOODALL
Eric Woodall is the Producing Artistic Director of North Carolina Theatre, In the theatre business
for 30 years, Eric has been an actor, director, teacher and casting director. He was a resident
director for the Broadway, Touring and Las Vegas productions of Mamma Mia! Regional directing
credits include West Side Story, Gypsy, Jesus Christ Superstar, Mary Poppins, Billy Elliot, Driving
Miss Daisy, and Steel Magnolias (North Carolina Theatre) Other directing credits include Next to
Normal, Big River, On Golden Pond (Casa Manana); Big Fish, The Light in the Piazza, Parade, August
Osage County, and Violet (Theatre Raleigh); and Hay Fever (Playmakers.) Before joining NC Theatre,
Eric worked as one of New York’s top casting directors in the office of Tara Rubin Casting. A few of
his Broadway casting credits include Sunset Boulevard, Aladdin, Falsettos, Les Misérables,
Phantom of the Opera, Big Fish, Bullets Over Broadway, Billy Elliot, Mary Poppins, …Spelling Bee,
The Little Mermaid, and Mamma Mia! (Broadway, National tour). As a guest lecturer, Eric has taught
at universities and training programs around the country including NYU, Baldwin Wallace, and
Elon. Internationally, Eric was invited to lead workshops in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia
through Actors Equity of Australia. Eric is a drama graduate of Carnegie Mellon-University and is a
member of SDC and CSA.

Jerome Davis is founding artistic director of Burning Coal Theatre in Raleigh. Directing credits for
Burning Coal: Ashe in Johannesburg, The Weir (twice), Rat in the Skull, Pentecost, Winding the Ball,
Steward of Christendom, Night & Day, Company, Road to Mecca, Juno & the Paycock, Accidental
Death of an Anarchist, Taming of the Shrew, Inherit the Wind, Hamlet, Hysteria, Prisoner’s
Dilemma, 1960, The Seafarer, Shape of the Table, Enron, Jude the Obscure Parts 1 & 2, Shining
City, Camelot, The Heretic, Iron Curtain Trilogy (Raleigh & London), Evita, Sunday in the Park with
George, Spoonface Steinberg, Written on the Heart, Dark Vanilla Jungle (London), Iphigenia in

JESSE GEPHART
Jesse Gephart is a longtime member of the Triangle theatre community, having been working in
the area since 1998. He has been an actor and director for Theatre Raleigh, Theatre In The Park,
Raleigh Little Theatre, and more. This year, he was seen in RLT's A Number and TIP's Buyer &
Cellar. He is directing the upcoming Gravitational Pull of Bernice Trimble at TIP, and will return to
their holiday stage as Crumpet in The Santaland Diaries this December.
KAREN DACONS-BROCK
Karen Dacons-Brock is a former professor of theatre at North Carolina Central University (NCCU).
During her tenure at NCCU, she taught performance courses, developed and produced new plays,
directed theatrical productions, and promoted the University via edutainment performance tours.
She was also the recipient of teaching and directing awards. Beyond the University, Dacons-Brock
has collaborated on new play projects, served on boards, and directed productions for various
theatre companies in the Triangle. She is a resident of Durham.

MARK CORNELL
Mark Cornell has had more than 85 of his plays produced in theatres around the world. Most recently, his play
Desert Song was part of this summer’s plays-in-development program at The Sauk in Michigan where his AACT
NewPlayFest award-winning play On Pine Knoll Street premiered in 2020. His play The Other Half won the 2019
Getchell Award, and will premiere at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC in spring 2022. Other plays include:
Sprucehaven B (Rising Sun Performance Company/Frigid Festival, NYC), At Birth (Hormel New Works Festival at
Phoenix Theatre), Two Turtle Doves (Common Ground in Durham, NC), and Carolyn Adams (ArtsCenter). His short
plays have won numerous awards, including the LW Thomas Award for Bad Thing at Theatre Oxford, Best Playwright
at Pittsburgh New Works Festival and the Short and Sweet Award in Brisbane, Australia for The Rental Company. He
is finishing up two feature films, The Invite, and The Fog. He is an ensemble member with Moonlight Stage Company
in Raleigh, partner with Paul Newell with Full Nelson Theater, and co-creator of Marked Men Films with Mark Jantzen.
He lives in Chapel Hill. He has an MFA in playwriting from UCLA.

MARTHA KERAVUORI
Martha Keravuori has a life-long involvement with theatre as an actress, director, stage manager,
talent agent and a teacher. She has a drama degree from the Woman’s College of UNC. For the
past nine years she has been a reviewer with Chuck Galle. She is a winner of a 2018 Raleigh Medal
of Arts.

MARY ROWLAND
Mary Rowland is a Raleigh native who reads, acts, and directs in the Triangle. She has worked
extensively with multiple groups in the area, appearing recently as Sherlock in Baskerville at
Raleigh Little Theatre, and Maman in June Guralnick’s Little O+ at Justice Theatre Project. She
retired last year from teaching communication and theatre at Wake Tech.

NATHAN ROSS FREEMAN
Nathan Ross Freeman is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Authoring Action, developing teen
authors as impact communication specialists, authors, orators and filmmakers. He is Winston-
Salem’s 2015 Arts Council Award recipient, Faculty member of the Intensive Writing Faculty during
his 14 years of teaching Screenwriting and Playwriting at the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte (1994-2008). Freeman’s 2 feature films, Mr. Bones (narrative) and Authoring Action
(documentary) were screened at over 20 international film festivals, and together were awarded 5
first place awards and 5 invitations. Freeman’s new Feature Film, Gem, is currently scheduled. To
tour international fil festivals. Freeman Wrote, Produced, Directed, Filmed and Edited Gem. Mr.
Nathan Ross Freeman has conducted Authoring Action workshops at elementary, middle and high
schools throughout the state of North Carolina, and around the nation. He is a co-developer of the
NCEdTA state-wide curriculum for Playworks in the Schools (K4-12). Nathan Ross Freeman co-
founded many artistic organizations, including Authoring Action, Montage Showcase Ensemble,
Assegai Film Group, Bushfire Theatre and Pen & Voice, each representing a powerful vehicle for
discovering one’s authentic voice and expressing it with impact. Mr. Nathan Ross Freeman is a
graduate of St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA. Has 5 grown children and 7 Grands, 1 Great
Grand and another grand in the oven.

ROY DICKS
Roy C. Dicks – Roy's experience with new scripts comes from a range of theatrical activities in the
Triangle. He recently finished a 21-year run as theater critic and performing arts writer for the
Raleigh News & Observer, covering more than 1,200 productions, including over a hundred new
works. Before that, Roy directed three dozen plays, a third of which were original works. As an
actor in over 60 plays, Roy created roles in eight area premieres. He also has original writing
experience in creating two commissioned opera librettos adapted from novels by N.C. writers,
Allan Gurganus and Angela Davis-Gardner. Roy's undergraduate degrees in English and in Theater
gave him a firm grounding for approaching original material. He is a member of the American
Theatre Critics Assoc., the Music Critics Assoc. of North America, and the Dramatists Guild.
Currently, Roy works on new scripts with area playwrights who have come to him through the Sips
& Scripts service.

VICKIE L. EVANS
Vickie L. Evans is a producer, award-winning playwright and director. She is the founder of the
African American Playwrights Group, a collaboration of playwrights highlighting stories of the
African American culture. Vickie is also the CEO of the nonprofit arts advocacy agency, Performing
Arts and Literary Society.

TRIZA COX
Triza Cox is a playwright, screenwriter, and theatre artist. She is currently the South Carolina
Ambassador for the Dramatists Guild and is an associate member of the Society of Stage Directors
and Choreographers. Her research and creative work center on playmaking using Jungian
archetypes, motifs and symbols of the collective unconscious. Triza holds an MFA in Theatre
Performance from the University of Louisville and has trained with Dell’Arte International School of
Physical Theatre. Triza’s book, How I Make Transcendent Theatre, examines the implementation of
community-based techniques and psychological theories in the creative process. Her original plays
include A Last Supper; The Willing , which recently received a staged reading with Triad Stage in
Greensboro, NC; God in the Midst of it All and Lil’ Bard which was a semi-finalist in NYU’s New Plays
for Young Audience 2018 and premiered at Charlotte’s Children Theatre in a staged reading. She
also has received a Kentucky New Voices grant for her playwriting. Triza worked in Kentucky and in
the Northeast as a Teaching Artist. Her work included Arts Literacy Programs with Hartford
Performs; teaching playwriting with Northeast Children’s Theatre Company; and Journey: A Trip on
the Underground Railroad with Walden Theatre in Kentucky. As artistic director and founder of The
Drama Lady Theatre Group (thedramaladytheatregroup.org), Triza has shown dedication to
creating new and classical productions. Through this organization, Triza has implemented and
facilitated many workshops and programs including Shakespeare Behind Bars, Peer Educational
Theatre and Forum Theatre.

WENDELL TABB
Wendell Tabb is an educator, theater director, producer, actor, and graduate of North Carolina
Central University. He is a highly recognized educator and director at the award-winning Hillside
High School in Durham, NC, where the theater and stage is named in his Honor. In 2017, he
received an honorable mention for the Tony Award for Excellence in Theatre Education.

Terra Hodge is an educator, actress, director, and filmmaker. Some of her directing credits include
The Amen Corner (Agape Theatre Project), Crowns (Raleigh Little Theatre), and Caroline, or Change
(The Justice Theatre Project). She's excited to work with the amazing Carol Torian on this

Mitigating Damages

Jenny Latimer (Director) is an actor/director/teacher originally from Orem, Utah. Her Directing
Credits include: Into the Breeches and Around the World in 80 days, Theatre Raleigh (World
Premiere); Romeo and Juliet, Kenan Theater Company, The Kritik, Kenan Theater Company; Natural
Shocks, Kenan Theater Company, Adventures of Peter Rabbit, Theatre Raleigh. She has assisted
award winning directors: Tyne Rafaeli (Santa Cruz Shakespeare), Jessie Austrian (Playmakers
Repertory Company), and Jeffrey Denman (Tuacahn Center for the Arts). Favorite acting credits
include: Cosette in the 25th anniversary tour of Les Misérables; Twelfth Night, The Cake, The May
Queen, She Loves Me at Playmakers Repertory Company; Into the Woods, Baltimore Center Stage;
Into the Woods and She Loves Me Westport Country Playhouse, An Octoroon, and Into the
Breeches, Chautauqua Theater Company and numerous productions at the Hale Center Theaters in
Utah including: Phantom, The Scarlett Pimpernel, Beau Jest, The Slipper and the Rose, Beauty and
the Beast, Pirates of Penzance, and The Spitfire Grill. Jenny runs Center Theater Company, a youth

Charlie Brady is an actor, director relocated from NYC and now resides in Raleigh with his wife,
Lauren Kennedy Brady. A professional actor of almost 30 years, Charlie spent 17 years in New York
City and performed on stages on Broadway, Off-Broadway, Equity National Tours and Regional
Theater across the country. He brings this variety of experience to his mission to connect our
region’s theater community and help support more full time opportunities in the industry. Inspired
by the commitment and passion of the triangle theater community, Charlie is committed to
stimulating productivity, visibility, and the celebration of all our region continues to accomplish.

Haiku
Mike Brannon is a director, playwright, and occasional actor, out of Greensboro, NC. An English major
who somehow has ended up working as a computer programmer and database consultant, he
nevertheless doing what he has always dreamed of doing – participating in the dramatic arts, and
creating works for the stage He's been a fan of Judy Dove's play HAIKU ever since it was presented as
part of the Goodly Frame Zoom Fest Series 2, and can't wait to see it have the full stage production it
deserves.

JAMAL FARRAR

Jamal Farrar is a seasoned actor with a background in theater and film. He is always looking for ways to
become a better artist. A husband and father of 3 girls, his favorite hobbies are spending time with
family and working out. He is exceedingly appreciative for the opportunity to be a part of this project.

Dana Marks is a professional stage and film actor, musician, teacher, and director based in
Durham, NC. She co-founded Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern (2005-2019). She did her Masters
work at The American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater Institute for Advanced Theater
Training at Harvard University and has performed, taught, and trained around the world with
renowned artists including Robert Woodruff, Rinde Ekert, Anne Bogart and SITI Company, and
recently appeared in the upcoming feature film The Eyes Of Tammy Faye starring Jessica Chastain
and Cherry Jones.

Dana attended John Casablancas under instructor Lewis Abernathy (Titanic) and Editor Sarah Stein
at NCSU. She won 1st place for her acting performances at The Model & Talent Expo (Dallas, TX),
performed in a plus-size fashion show at Women's Empowerment, and is thrilled to perform in her
first play.
DANNY DOVE

Danny Dove (TOSHI), a local film and theater actor, is excited to be working with Capital Arts
Theatre Guild! Past credits include Raleigh Little Theater, Actors Comedy Lab, Meredith College,
and NRACT. He has also enjoyed working alongside UNCSA as well as other independent film
makers in the Tri-state area.

Daphne Trevathan is a native of Rocky Mount, NC. She has been involved with community theater for over 10 years. Her latest
performance was Katori Hall's The Mountaintop with Raleigh Little Theater. She is fortunate to have worked with local playwright
Marilynn Barner Anselmi in her award winning short film, "The Learning Man." Daphne is excited to be playing the role Rhonda
Drake and hopes you enjoy.

GERMÔNA SHARP

Germôna is a vocalist/writer/theatrical and commercial actress. Her passion for singing and acting
started on stage. She has directed a few theatre productions as well. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA,
Germôna has lived in many different areas throughout her childhood and draws some of her
inspiration for singing, writing, acting, and creating from times of exploring and experiencing
different areas. She has a whimsical mind and applies that inspiration to some of her habits as an
entertainer. She has appeared in many film and theatre productions around and outside the area
such as Blood Done Sign My Name (Raleigh Little Theatre), Sister Act: The Musical (Raleigh Little
Theatre), Caroline, or Change: The Musical (Justice Theatre Project), Until The Flood (Dominion
Stage Theatre, Arlington, VA) and many more. As a writer she contributes to CL&S, critiquing
community and regional theatre productions and television specials like "Black Is King". She writes
for BeingBrownLLC.com, where she calls attention to Black mental health, Black mobility, and the
overall Black experience; she is also a content contributor for BroadwayBlack where she lends her
voice to bring light to the Black artists within the theatre community.

Hazel Edmond is a versatile artist who has performed throughout the region with some amazing
actors, writers, and directors. Favorite performance credits: I Love My Hair (Forty AM), Dreamgirls
and Hello Dolly (North Carolina Theatre), Hairspray (Broadway Rose Theatre) and Violet (Theatre
Raleigh).

Raleigh Act theater, he has been featured in beauty and the beast musical, the Aristocrat musical

JaJuan is a native of the small town of Tarboro, NC and has been a part of the theater community
for the last seven years. With roles such as Coalhouse Walker (Ragtime, JTP), Sporting Life (Porgy
and Bess, JTP), Curtis (Sister Act, RLT), and Andy Wright (The Scottsboro Boys, TR) JaJuan has
become a well known face and voice. Most recently he has begun working in film and can be seen
in the upcoming premier of Our Kind Of People on Fox. He is grateful for the opportunity to once
again help shine light on local writers and is excited to share this intimate space with this
extraordinary cast and crew!

Dr. Joy L. Bryant (Principal Rosemary Jackson) is honored to share in presenting the powerful story
of Nice White Parents. A recipient of the Gus Witherspoon Community Arts Award, Joy is a lyric
soprano and theatre artist from Raleigh. She has performed throughout the Triangle with The
Justice Theater Project, MOJOAA Performing Arts Theatre, Koffee Dance Company, The Women’s
Theatre Festival, Star Pocket Theatre, The Town of Holly Springs and North Carolina Central
University (NCCU) Department of Theatre. Favorite theatre credits include Bourbon at The Border
(Rosa St. John) Caroline or Change (Moon), The Color Purple (Daisy, ensemble), A Member of the
Wedding (Bernice Sadie Brown), Finding Patience (Ernestine, slave), and Escape to Freedom (Nan,

JUAN ISLER

Juan Isler, a native of Kinston, NC, grew up singing and earned a music-business degree at
Winston-Salem State University in 1993. He worked as a deejay before coming to Raleigh, where
he got a job as technical director at what is now Spectrum News in 2004. He has worked on more
than 50 plays in venues across the Triangle on both sides of the stage, as actor, technician and
director. He serves on various boards, NRACT and Beltline To Broadway and is on the core
leadership committee at Pure Life Theater. He is the host of the show “Torn,” where he is one of
the public faces of the online hub Beltline To Broadway (beltlinetobroadway.org, formerly RDU On
Stage). All of this, while working as event coordinator at NC State University.

KYLIE ROBINSON

Kylie Robinson (Shinju) is honored to be in her first AAPI-centric show. She is a freshman at UNC-
Chapel Hill and a proud NC Theatre Conservatory alum. Recently, she performed as an Overture
Singer for NC Theatre’s Songs For A New World. Thanks to her family, friends, and mentors for
their endless support.
MAKAYLA LATTIMORE

Makayla Lattimore is from Winston Salem, North Carolina. She loves acting, writing, and reading.
This will be her second production, after her first role as ‘The Mirror’ in stage play unbeliEVE written

Monique Taylor last appeared at the Women’s Theatre Festival performing in The Strawberry Girl
and directed a performance of A Mother’s Heart. Her last full play performance was in New York as
Maydee in Jar the Floor. Monique works as a high school Theatre Arts instructor and Lead Teacher
of Curriculum and Resources with DPS.

Norah Myer is an eight grade student at Central Park School for Children in Durham. This summer
she enjoyed theatre camp with Justice Theater Project. Norah enjoys writing stories and plays, and

Robin Carmon Marshall's recent roles include: 3 Gods on Zoom as Sister, Find Your Love as Robin,

Sandra, fell in love with theatre early. She began performing in plays in middle school. She studied
Theatre in New York and received a BA in Theatre from the University of Buffalo. She has
performed in a number of plays. From children’s theatre to Shakespeare and was a principle player
in a Regional Theatre, “Theatre of Youth.” She was last seen in performing in Illuminated Dresses,
and the Water’s Rise.

Charlie Brady is an actor, director relocated from NYC and now resides in Raleigh with his wife,
Lauren Kennedy Brady. A professional actor of almost 30 years, Charlie spent 17 years in New York
City and performed on stages on Broadway, Off-Broadway, Equity National Tours and Regional
Theater across the country. He brings this variety of experience to his mission to connect our
region’s theater community and help support more full time opportunities in the industry. Inspired
by the commitment and passion of the triangle theater community, Charlie is committed to
stimulating productivity, visibility, and the celebration of all our region continues to accomplish.

YVETTE HOLDER
Founder, Sips & Scripts
Yvette L. Holder is a native of North Carolina and has studied theatre at three institutions: North
Carolina School of the Arts, Lee Strasberg Institute of Dramatic Arts (New York), and North Carolina
Central University, where she received a BA in Dramatic Arts. Yvette is a producer as she is also the
creator of the growing service platform for NC playwrights, “Sips & Scripts”, which supports,
promotes, and produces works written by emerging and established North Carolina playwrights.
Yvette always looks to the future as she focuses on that next given moment to open doors for new
opportunities.

JOSEPH MEGEL
Moderator
Mr. Megel has spent the last 20 years focusing on the direction and development of new works, for
theatre, film and video. Mr. Megel is a member of SSDC (Society of Stage Directors and
Choreographers), and an Associate Artist for The Working Theatre in New York. He holds the M.F.A.
degree from the Peter Stark Motion Picture Producing Program at the University of Southern
California, a Master of Arts from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music and a
B.S. in Speech from Northwestern University. He served for six years as Artistic Director of
Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey, a new play development theatre, and continues to serve as Co-
Executive Producer of Harland’s Creek Productions, producer of New York premieres of new plays,
developmental producer of screenplays, readings and films.

Stage Manager
Elaine Petrone has been active in various Raleigh community theatres since 2004.
She has stage managed a variety of genre including children's theatre, musicals, dramas, and
even summer outdoor Shakespeare. She is excited to add a festival to her resume and to do her
part in bringing voice to these new works.

Lighting Technician
Charlie Raschke is a North Carolina based Lighting Designer, Programmer, and Technician. His
credits include work at Theatre Raleigh, North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre, Dance Around NC
and Enloe High School, as well as freelance. He is versed in a wide variety of lighting consoles and
works in concert, theatre, and dance industries.

ERIC ALEXANDER COLLINS (Sound Designer) has worked in professional audio for over 25 years,
