MONDAYS AT THE HILL The Green Thumb & Healthy Cooking Gang If you enjoy gardening and cooking, let’s bring them together! We will learn about seasonal growing, maintaining and caring for our garden by planting, weeding and watering our own herbs, fruits and vegetables. In the kitchen we will prepare fresh ingredients from our garden to create a delicious and healthy lunch to enjoy together in our social setting. Health & Wellness We will start our week in a zen, calming environment, enjoying some relaxing activities, including; • gentle movement exercise, seated relaxation and meditation sessions, sensory and pampering with friends while building social connections, and • making our own soaps, moisturisers, lip balms, body scrubs and candles for ourselves or to be given to loved ones as gifts. Community Volunteering We will be empowered by volunteering with and completing odd jobs for Maitland businesses. Our jobs can take as little as 30 minutes or up to 2 hours. This group is all about being included and involved in our community. Swimming Let’s enjoy a great day at the pool together. Swimming is for everyone! Not only is swimming fun and good for our fitness, it has many benefits for our overall health and wellbeing. Water provides a wonderful experience of weightlessness, alleviating pressure on joints and muscles and allows us to float and stretch in ways that we might not be able to achieve when out of the water. People who use a wheelchair can experience wonderful freedom in the water, floating effortlessly in the water away while supported by our skilled and trained support workers. 1
