March 24, 2021 VMAs 2017 Its time for the MTV Video Music Awards! Most of you will remember last years masterful Lemonade medley by a very pregnant Beyonce. The VMAs were held on Aug 27 in California. This year Katy Perry was the host of the show. She made a wild entrance by floating down to the stage in a space suit. “I’m so happy to be back on planet Earth,” she said. She spun a fidget spinner (!) and said, “I feel like all of my problems have been solved right now.” The show had several fun performances. Here are a few highlights: The show kicked off with Kendrick Lamar’s fiery performance of his hit songs “DNA.” and “HUMBLE.” He literally set a man on fire! Copyright © 2018 CURRENTKIDS LLP. March 24, 2021 Pink performed a medley of her hits. She drove around in a car on stage! But her ultimate moment was the heartfelt speech she gave while accepting the Video Vanguard Award. Take a look! Rapper Logic along with Alessia Cara and Khalid performed “1-800-273-8255”. The emotional song and passionate performance talked about mental health, anxiety, depression that a lot of people have problems with but are ashamed to talk about. Not a single eye in the audience was dry! Fifth Harmony won a VMA (Best Pop). But the real reason they won is that when they kicked off their electric performance by sending a shadowy fifth woman falling backward into space — a reference to ex-Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello ditching the group! Haha that was funny! Ed Sheeran, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, and Thirty Seconds to Mars, Katy Perry all played their songs. Ed Sheeran won one of the top prizes of the evening, Artist of the Year. Apparently he didn’t expect the award and came unprepared to give an acceptance speech! Eeeks! But the queen of the show was Taylor Swift. She premiered her new video: “Look What You Made Me Do” during the show. She didn’t even have to be present to have the most talked-about performance of the night. Copyright © 2018 CURRENTKIDS LLP.
