We only meet 4 time a year and function primarily by having volunteers lead or assist with various projects that this Ministry Team sponsors. Mack Flood is the Council Rep for this Ministry Team, and sub-committee chairpersons are: Fellowship: Kathy Potter, Evangelism/Outreach: Julie Schamber, and Youth & Family: Dan Plance. We welcome everyone who would be willing to help with any of the numerous activities the Ministry Team sponsors. Please mark your calendar, and plan to join us!
The sign-up sheet is on the Narthex Bulletin board for 2020. Please consider sponsoring flowers in the new year! The 200th Anniversary Committee is looking for additional committee members and memorabilia which represents our 200 years as part of our community. There is a table in the Narthex for any items you wish to donate for an upcoming display. Also in the Narthex is a suggestion box where anyone can share ideas of how best we can celebrate this milestone and to indicate if you are interested in serving on the planning committee. Let’s not allow this opportunity to celebrate such a milestone pass us by!! Get involved! Name Tag Sundays We will be having “Name Tag Sundays” weekly as a courtesy for our substitute pastor, Rev. Dr. Al Towberman and any other visiting Pastors. Thank you so much for your cooperation. Please remember to return your name tag to the box after the service! Thanks!
New Banners! Shown is one of Emmanuel's two new Taizé feather banners along with some of our Taizé Prayer Service set-up crew volunteers (L-R) Jim Kuczek, Joe Ugen, Dana Hillman and Dave Whipkey. Dave recently installed the mounting posts with the supervisory input of the crew! We thank Dave Vance for doing the design and Fred Schamber for handling the procurement. The two banners were purchased with a Thrivent Action Team grant and will be put up one week before each Taizé service. The next Taizé prayer service will be Wednesday, January 22 at 7 PM. CLICK HERE +++ Bible Study of Genesis The Wednesday afternoon Bible study group has been having interesting and lively discussions as we proceed through this important book which is so foundational to understanding of the whole Bible. We have just completed the "Primeval history" portion of Genesis, which has covered creation, mankind's fall into sin (and the prophecy of a Savior), and such familiar stories as that of Cain and Abel, Noah and the ark, and the Tower of Babel. Beginning on January 8 we will encounter the call of Abram as God initiates His plan to create a special people through whom the Savior will come.
If you have not been part of our group, this would be a great time to join us as we begin our study of the Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. We meet twice a month at 1:00 PM and end promptly at 2:30 (our two classes this month are January 8, and 22). All class materials are provided, there is no required reading, and participation in discussion is everyone's own decision. We'd be delighted to have you join us! The Emmanuel Prayer Group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 11 AM in the church library to pray for all things Emmanuel as well as concerns around our neighborhood and the world. The next gathering will be Wednesday, January 8 in the Library. Any questions, or if you have a concern you would like us to pray for, please contact Evangelism Chairperson, Julie Schamber at fjschamber@comcast.net or 724- 325-3166. We’d love to have you join us +++ Youth Group/W-DOGS Events Weekly Text Reminders and Devotions are being sent. If you and your friend(s) would like to receive them or attend the events below, please let Dan Plance, Youth Group Leader, know at 412.965.8904 or at plance92@gmail.com. Christmas at ELC

BAD WEATHER POLICY Cancellation of worship and congregational events seldom occurs, BUT when EXTREME winter weather makes for unsafe conditions it may become necessary to do so. In the event of worship or other cancellations, the decision will be made approximately 2 hours prior to the scheduled time of an event. The recorded message on the church phone (724-327-2190) will provide notice of any cancellation AS WELL AS radio KDKA 1020AM and KDKA TV will be notified to provide notice of a cancellation and an email blast sent to everyone who has signed up to receive eNews from ELC. In any bad weather, we urge our members to use good old-fashion common sense when coming out to worship and other events. While God desires our praise and worship, God certainly doesn't want us to risk our safety and become injured in any way. A NEW YEAR. A TIME FOR NEW COMMITMENTS. Please consider serving ELC this year with your time and talent as a member of the Christian Life Ministry Team, the Taizé set up crew, as a Greeter, Usher, Assisting Minister, Choir singer or bell ringer, as an Altar Guild helper, an Acolyte, or a member of the 200th Anniversary Committee. Call the office for more details on how you can make a difference in the life of your church.
