Cover Story Upside Pay Expands After months of success with Company Van Drivers, ATS is happy to announce the Upside Pay program is expanding to Company Flatbed Specialized Drivers. Upside Pay is what ATS is calling the new payout program for Company Flatbed Specialized, Van Pad Wrap and Regional Drivers. With Upside Pay, Drivers earn their standard CPM or 23 percent of Transportation Revenue. What’s even better is, as an eligible Company Driver, you do not have to choose which one you get. Instead, you will automatically earn whatever pays more. It’s as simple as that. “It just makes things a whole lot easier for me and my Fleet Manager. I no longer have to do mathematics,” said ATS Van Pad Company Van Pad Wrap Driver, Robert M. is excited about Wrap Company Driver, Robert M. what Upside Pay means for him. As an eligible Company Driver, you’ll learn how you will be getting paid through your Qualcomm. When you are dispatched, you’ll be sent a screen providing the estimated pay method and what the estimated payout will be. “When I get a load assignment, [the information] pops up and I look at it and say good, I’m making more money this trip,” said ATS Van Pad Wrap Company Driver, Karl P. “It’ll tell you, this is what the mileage pay is, this is what the percentage pay is and out of those two, you’ll automatically know the one you’re going to get is the highest pay,” said ATS Flatbed Specialized Company Driver, Paul T. Company Van Pad Wrap Driver, Karl P. said for him, the While each load’s payout method may vary, the mileage pay program has been good from the beginning. schedule will remain the same. All parameters for the submission of loads for payment will remain the same. “As a critical touchpoint to our customers, ATS is always looking for ways to help our Drivers grow and succeed, “said ATS CEO, Rollie Anderson. “ATS made the decision to implement Upside Pay because there really is no downside to the program. Upside Pay provides a way for ATS to share additional revenue with its Van and Flatbed Specialized Company Drivers.” During testing of the Upside Pay program, Drivers averaged $0.65 per mile. “You’re going to get better pay on the smaller runs than you normally would,” Paul T. said. Company Flatbed Specialized Driver, Paul T. said he has earned $1.08 per mile on a load because of Upside Pay. If you have any questions regarding Upside Pay, please contact your Fleet Manager. DRIVERS IN THE SPOTLIGHT By: Dottie S. Safety is a complete understanding of the task at hand and the knowledge of every step that must be taken. Safety is good judgment, sound preparation for unexpected situations, the ability to be alert in the midst of routine and unwillingness to rely on luck. Safety is consideration for the family that needs you, the customers who depend on you, the company that employs you and you, yourself. Safety is not a “one and done” thought process; it is following the rules every single second, on every single job. Here are Drivers that we’d like to recognize for their execution of safety and advice for other ATS Drivers and Lease Operators. ATS, Inc./Vans “I always put safety first because, as Drivers, we have the public to think about. I am always mindful of what and who is behind, next to or in front of me and maintain plenty of stopping distance. Accidents distress me because they don’t need to happen. If I drive by an accident, I analyze them to determine how it could’ve been avoided. There are rewards for driving safely for myself, the company and other Drivers on the road.” Jesse H. Fleet Manager: Madeline K. ATS Specialized “Safety to us is the number one priority from doing pre and post-trip inspections to delivering a well-secured load to our customers. But one thing most important to us is knowing that by being extra safe, not only do we get home to our family, but so does everyone else we come across on the road.” Trevor and Tami S. Fleet Manager: Vicki R. ATS Heavy Haul “Patience is my key to success in safety. Making quick decisions can lead to disastrous consequences. Plan ahead and execute your plan. When everything goes wrong, slow down and think of a way to correct the problem at hand.” Ryan L. Fleet Manager: John S. 9 The Herald www.atsinc.com 1st Quarter 2019 Volume 44
