Italy is the fifth-most visited country in the world. Italy is subdivided into 20 regions. The country is also divided into 14 metropolitan cities and 96 provinces. It is the second most important economic centre of mainland Southern Italy after Naples, a port and university city, as well as the city of Saint Nicholas. The city itself has a population of 326,799 (2015). The metropolitan area has 1.3 million inhabitants. Bari has its own airport, Bari Airport, which is located 8 km northwest of the centre of Bari. It is connected to the centre by train services from Bari Aeroporto railway station. 14

It is the second most populated town of the province after Brindisi, and has a population of 40,227. Fasano is situated in an extended area with secular olive trees and its territory extends from hills to the sea with rich Mediterranean vegetation.
