FROM OUR ADMINISTRATOR 4 JUNE 27, 2021 New Life By the same token, his point is that WE are to extend who WE are and how WE have been gifted Probably the saddest moments of to help one another experience the life of Christ our lives are centered around the among OUR community of believers. Whether death of a loved one. It doesn’t WE see it or not, WE all have many benefits from matter how sick or healthy, how God to share new life in OUR very midst. The life young or old the person was, or of faith is not meant to be lived in isolation or whether the death was sudden or expected. Their half-heartedly, and by no means to die. WE only death takes a toll on our psyche, and we would do know life when WE give life. This is the eternal life anything to have them back with us. Death just that Christ makes new for US every day. seems so unnatural. We can’t comprehend life coming to an end. Life is meant for living, not dying… God Bless The Cities of God! isn’t it? There’s got to be more to life than dying. And so there is. From the Book of Wisdom this weekend we hear that “God did not make death” (1:13) and that “God formed man to be imperishable” (2:23). Since we are made in His image and likeness, we are meant to be his chosen possession forever. God alone knows the span of our mortal life, but He also rejoices in the eternity of our immortal life. He will do everything in His power to maintain fullness of life for us – whether in this life or eternal life. The Lord Himself gauges that fullness of life for each of us and will not deny it to any of us. Just look at the miracles of Jesus in the Gospel this weekend. Whether He is bringing back to mortal life the little daughter of Jairus or restoring to health the woman with hemorrhages, He is concerned that life is made whole and to its fullness. Jesus acts not so much out of pity as out of a conviction that life is made to be lived with and through Him. Those with faith in Him are able to PARISH MISSION accept the gift and live their life as a gift from Him. Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church is a large, vibrant As people of faith, WE are called not only to see and parish that has a tradition of serving God’s people hope for life beyond the grave but also to live for and with the warmth of a small parish. Inspired by the promote the fullness of life even now. If WE live with Holy Spirit, we prayerfully seek to serve God by the heart of Christ, then WE cannot comprehend or the way we worship, celebrate the sacraments, tolerate that anyone could or should experience any witness the Gospel, and serve one another. We lack in the presence or the gifts of God. That’s the beauty of the upcoming merger of OUR parishes. are committed to live our Christian life as a WE all bring something to the table that benefits community of hospitality, spiritual enrichment, someone else for the good of OUR common life of and service through works of compassion, mercy, faith. In this weekend’s 2nd Reading, St. Paul reminds and evangelization. We are called to proclaim, US that Christ became poor in order to make US rich teach and model the good news of Jesus Christ. in His eternal life. (2 Cor 8:9). We pledge our time, talent, and treasure for the fulfillment of our parish mission.
