About the Gabriel Lester Hero
Award
Each year, extraordinary Texas Center for the Missing
volunteers are honored for their continued dedication to help
the missing and their families find HOPE.
In 2012, TCM established the Gabriel Lester Hero Award to
recognize individuals whose extraordinary efforts have helped
bring the missing home.
This very special award is named after
our Founder’s son, Gabriel Lester.
Texas Center for the Missing was founded in
2000 by Doreen Wise after the four-month
disappearance and tragic loss of her son,
Gabriel. She saw the need for an organization
that could walk with families and provide
them the support they need to make it
through each day.
TCM remains dedicated to our founding mission and strives to
protect and serve the missing and their families through each
step of the location and recovery process.
It is our pleasure to honor Wendy and Michael Frailey with
the 2019 Gabriel Lester Hero Award for their transformational
dedication to TCM’s life-saving programs and
the families we serve.

About the George T. Buenik
Law Enforcement Excellence Award
Texas Center for the Missing is proud to present the George
T. Buenik Law Enforcement Excellence Award to a law
enforcement officer who was instrumental in rescuing a child.
This award is presented at our annual
Champions for Children gala.
This award is named after George T. Buenik for his efforts to
protect missing children and bring them home safely.
George T. Buenik co-founded the Houston Regional Amber
Alert System. He served as a Captain in the Houston Police
Department’s Juvenile Division, co-authored the Houston
Regional Amber Plan, and implemented the Technology to
Recover Abducted Kids (TRAK) system (now called Critical
Reach Flyers). Mr. Buenik currently serves as Director of the
Mayor’s Office of Public Safety & Homeland Security where
he continues to make positive contributions to the safety of
Houstonians.
It is our pleasure to honor Sgt. Harry Hunt, Pearland Police
Department with the 2019 George T. Buenik Law Enforcement
Excellence Award for his service above and beyond the call of
duty in rescuing a child.

Missing
Texas Center for the Missing (TCM) is a Houston-based
non-profit and the Amber Alert provider for the 14-county
Houston-Galveston Region. TCM offers crisis intervention,
prevention, and community education services related to child
abductions, runaways, internet lures, and endangered adults.
Since its founding in 2000, TCM has directly served more than
345,000 children and families. In addition, TCM has trained
7,200 law enforcement officers and provided assistance in
more than 1,400 missing persons cases. All of these programs
are made possible solely through the generosity of private
donors!
We are at the ready to activate community resources 24/7
to get a missing child or endangered adult home quickly and
safely. Your support directly affects our ability to serve the
Greater Houston community with the best and most
time-efficient resources available.

The Century Club is a sustaining gifts program providing
a reliable source of income supporting TCM’s life-saving
programs. This unique investment tool helps TCM produce
sustainable change over time.
TCM must be able to respond to each emergency situation
with all available resources. To achieve this goal, TCM has a
strategic plan to double recurring annual or monthly gifts from
individuals and corporations by 2022.
