CSI Voices: Ruth Rubin, Las Cruces, member since around 1973 to around 2003.
1. What are your first memories of Congregation Shaareth Israel?
Beautiful building and welcoming people.
2. What role has the Congregation played in your life?
I enjoyed going each week and I enjoyed teaching music to the religious school students greatly.
I will always feel that Congregation Shaareth Israel is my primary Temple, my heart place. I’ll
always be a part of the synagogue.
3. What role has the Congregation had in this community?
A strong Jewish presence in the community.
Ruth also sent us one of her drawings from her Roothy’s Zoo collection, noting, considering that
we live in these bizarre times, quirkiness helps!
