A reminder that to opt out of receiving these funding bulletins please reply to this email with UNSUBSCRIBE or email office@teigncvs.org.uk CORE AND RECOVERY GRANTS LLOYDS BANK FOUNDATION Groups are fast approaching their last chance to get a grant from Lloyds Bank Foundation in 2021! They have recently reviewed their regional priorities, so head over to their website to check your eligibility for a two-year unrestricted, core cost grant of £50,000, alongside development support THE ASDA FOUNDATION BRINGING PEOPLE BACK TOGETHER GRANTS PHASE 2 - Grants of between £250 and £1,000 are available to a wide range of UK charitable organisations for activities, events or services to help communities recover from COVID-19. The programme is designed to supporting a celebratory event or to enable activities and services to recover after the disruption of COVID-19. Phase 2 of the fund, which opened on 16 August 2021 with an application deadline of Monday 1 November 2021, will support activities between 1st October and 31st December 2021. Grants of between £250 and £1,000, for groups local to an ASDA store, with no matched funding requirement, are available to UK charitable organisations for: • A Celebration Event – for example, a welcome back party or a community celebration. Eligible costs include meals for the event, decorations and entertainment. Proposals can include up to £50 for decorations; a maximum of £12.50 for a meal per person and entertainment up to £125 per application. • Getting Activities Back on Track – for example, supporting recreational activities, or • A combination of the above - for those wanting to apply for both celebration event and getting activities back on track. Guidance for completing both forms is available on the Foundation's website. All applications must be made via the applicant's local ASDA Community Champion by Monday 1st November 2021 CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE THE KFC FOUNDATION COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAMME - Grants between £200 and £2,000 for grassroots UK not-for-profit organisations in areas where KFC restaurants are located for activities that enable young people aged 11-25 to fulfil their potential.
The KFC Foundation's mission is to support young people aged 11-25 across the UK to help them fulfil their potential. Over the last year the Foundation has refocused its grant-making policy, moving away from funding a limited number of partnerships to a provider of small grants to grassroots community organisations in parts of the UK where a KFC restaurant is located. The Foundation provides small grants between £200 and £2,000 to smaller UK not-for-profit organisations with an annual income of less than £300,000. Applicants should: 1. Submit a 2-minute video about their organisation, and then 2. 2. Complete an Expression of Interest form, via the link on the KFC Foundation’s website The Expression of Interest deadline is Monday 28 February 2022. THE HAMILTON WALLACE TRUST – Grants generally of £500 for UK charities for a wide variety of charitable purposes, but specifically for those working in the areas of support for children and young people, health, medical care and medical research. • Application deadline: none – applications may be made at any time in writing. However, please note that the Trust will next meet in October 2021 to review requests for grant support, so we suggest applying by the end of September 2021 to be considered in the October round. • Funder: The Hamilton Wallace Trust (founded 1995. Charity number 1052453. Total value of all grants awarded during the year ended 31 January 2020: £29,350). • Who can apply: UK registered charities. • The trustees meet twice annually to review requests for grant support, usually in April and October. The Charity supports families with children aged 3-17 who have learning difficulties, physical or mental disabilities, acute, chronic or life limiting illnesses, been abused or neglected, witnessed domestic violence, been bereaved or act as carers for a parent or a sibling. The principal objectives of the Charity are:
• To help and educate young persons, through their leisure-time and holiday activities, so as to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capabilities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and that their conditions of life may be improved, and • To advance the education of young people by the provision of facilities for holidays. The Charity’s main activity is to provide (a) respite break family holidays of a 2-4 night duration for children with special needs (i.e. children who are sick, disabled, abused, neglected and/or are disadvantaged by poverty, and children who have a life limiting condition) to a variety of destinations both in the UK and (b) day trips to theme parks, theatres, zoos and other attractions for groups of special needs children throughout the UK. Statutory Providers, GPs and Voluntary groups can nominate children and their families. Grants are available for the following activities: • Group Day Trips • Group Activity Holidays • Family Day Trips • Family Holiday Breaks Further information, guidance and an application form is available on the Charity’s website. IRONMONGERS COMPANY has funds for registered charities (including Schools that are registered as charities for young people with disabilities) that work with disadvantaged children under the age of 25 can apply for funding of up to £10,000 through the Ironmongers Company's grants programme. Projects must meet all of the following criteria: • For children and young people under the age of 25 who are disadvantaged • Consist of educational activities that develop learning, motivation and skills • Have clear aims and objectives to be met within a planned timescale • Are within the UK The Company is particularly interested in enabling primary age children to develop a strong foundation for the future. Projects could, for example: • support special educational needs, • address behavioural problems • promote citizenship, parenting or life skills. Preference will be given to projects piloting new approaches where the outcomes will be disseminated to a wider audience. The next deadline for applications is the 15th December 2021. More Information CONSERVATION and ENVIRONMENT THE LINLEY SHAW FOUNDATION – Grants up to £5,000 for UK charities that are conserving, preserving and restoring the UK countryside using volunteers.
Bristol-based the Linley Shaw Foundation provides small grants to UK registered charities working to conserve, preserve and restore the natural beauty of the UK countryside using voluntary workers. During the year ended 6 October 2020, the Foundation made 13 grant awards totalling £58,500. Grants ranged from £2,500 to £5,000, with an average award of £4,500. Applications may be made at any time in writing, addressed to: The Linley Shaw Foundation The Trustee Department 1st Floor, Tower Wharf Cheese Lane Bristol BS2 0JJ Email: charitabletrusts@ludlowtrust.com FUNDING FOR SCHOOL CLIMATE & BIODIVERSITY PROJECTS The Royal Society is inviting applications to their Tomorrow's Climate Scientists Programme to give students across the UK the opportunity to take action to address climate and biodiversity issues. Grants of up to £3,000 are available to UK primary or secondary schools to run a STEM investigation project for students aged between 5 and 18. There needs to be two project partners to the scheme with the lead applicant being a school and the second partner being a STEM professional from academia or industry. Funding should predominantly be used to buy equipment. This round will close at the end of November 2021. More information TOGETHER FOR OUR PLANET GRANTS (NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND) Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available to locally based UK charitable organisations and social enterprises, including CICs, for small-scale projects that address climate change in their locality. To coincide with COP26, the UK’s hosting of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow from 1-12 November 2021, the National Lottery has launched a new £2.5 million ‘Together for Our Planet’ grant programme. The programme will offer grants from £1,000 to £10,000 - with no matched funding requirement - to support communities across the UK to take action on climate change through small-scale projects. The National Lottery Community Fund is particularly interested to hear from people who are starting to think about taking action on climate change in their communities. The National Lottery expects to award between 400 and 500 grants from this programme. As Together for Our Planet is expected to be an extremely competitive fund, the National Lottery will prioritise applications from: • Groups who do not have a current award with the National Lottery Community Fund. • Groups who have not previously received a National Lottery Community Fund grant. • People and communities hit hardest by climate change. • People and communities who are starting to think about taking climate action, and • Smaller organisations with an annual turnover of under £100,000.

FUNDING FOR MARINE CONSERVATION PROJECTS (UK) Marine conservation charities and not for profit organisations (including schools) based and working in the UK can apply for grants of up to £1,200 towards projects and research that address the root causes of marine conservation threats and challenges in the UK, and increase the number of people taking action for marine conservation. The funding, which is being made available through the Sea- Changers Main Grants programme, seeks to support creative and innovative approaches which have lasting benefits and outcomes. Sea-Changers is particularly interested in grassroots projects which galvanise community action and in projects which increase the number of people taking action for marine conservation. The deadline for applications is the 31st September 2021 More information THE INTERNATIONAL TREE FOUNDATION is now accepting applications for grants towards community tree planting projects in the UK. Grants up to £6,000 are available to community-led initiatives that will conserve, restore and protect indigenous trees and woodlands, forests, habitats and associated biodiversity. Projects should also support community engagement in tree planting and encourage social cohesion and inclusion. Each project must plant native UK species on land that is accessible to the general public. There needs to be a minimum of 50 trees planted per £1,000 of grant funding. Community-based organisations such as schools, community groups or non-governmental organisations can apply. Deadline: 16th December 2021. Further Information ARTS, CULTURE, SPORT THE THEATRES TRUST – grants of up to £5,000 Available to Not-For-Profit Theatres to Carry Out Essential Works The Theatres Trust has launched a £100,000 small grants programme for not-for-profit theatres across the UK to carry out essential works, particularly improvements to buildings that protect theatre use and remove barriers to participation and attendance. The Small Grants Programme, supported by The Linbury Trust, will provide grants of up to £5,000 to support small projects that make a big impact to a theatre's resilience, sustainability or accessibility. To be eligible to apply to the scheme, applicants must demonstrate that they: • own or manage theatres with titles or signed leases of more than 5 years on buildings in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland • run a year-round programme of live performance, of no less than 30 performances a year • have a bona fide UK charitable or not-for-profit legal structure and be able to provide certified or audited accounts for at least two years
Eligible projects include small capital works, the installation of key plant and machinery and works that make theatre buildings digital-ready. Applications are also welcome for projects that help theatres reopen as Covid-secure. The deadline for applications in this round is 5pm on the 8th November 2021. More Information ACCESS SPORT have grants of £500 to Encourage More People to Try BMX With the easing of lockdown restrictions and the success of Team GB BMX at the Olympics, Access Sport is offering BMX bike clubs grants of £500 to run open days that enable thousands of beginners to try out BMX across the UK. Funding will give clubs the opportunity to try to remove barriers to inclusion by opening their tracks up to the public or promoting the club to a new audience, particularly in deprived areas. Access Sport are also offering grants of £500 to inspire more girls to get involved. This funding would go towards : • women and girls inclusion training; • the delivery of girls only sessions or female friendly sessions; • or training for female coaches, volunteers and young leaders. More Information DAN MASKELL TENNIS TRUST has announced that the next closing date for applications is the 12th October 2021. Individuals can apply for grants of up to £500 for support for sports wheelchairs, tennis rackets, coaching lessons with a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) licensed coach or course fees for official LTA development/coaching courses. Groups can apply for a maximum of £1,500. Groups can apply for: Wheelchairs; Court hire; Coaching fees; and equipment packages which will include: • Rackets • Balls • Mini net • Coaching aids such as cones and throw down marker lines. In the case of wheelchairs, a deposit will be required; for individuals, the amount of deposit required will depend on the wheelchair type requested, clubs will need to raise a deposit of £200. More Information FAITH GROUPS ALLCHURCHES TRUST : HOPE BEYOND In response to the coronavirus, the Allchurches Trust is making funding available to churches, Christian Charities, cathedrals and Christian denominational bodies to enable them to meet changing needs within their communities and to adapt to challenges and opportunities presented by the pandemic.
The Hope Beyond Programme are making grants of up to £50,000 available to help religious organisations implement new ways of working and introduce new and/or enhanced support and activities to meet changing need. The Programme will look to address three themes: the issues of loneliness and isolation; growing community resilience and promoting mental and emotional health and wellbeing; and growing technological capability and resilience. Funding can be used for capital projects and some revenue costs. Applications can be made at any time. More Details THE CHILDS CHARITABLE TRUST A grant-making trust, supporting Christian UK registered and excepted charities and organisations both in the UK and overseas. During 2017 the Trust awarded grants to 81 different organisations all based in the UK but operating in more than 100 different countries worldwide. Projects will be considered that fall into the following categories: • Youth - the trust looks to support projects working in schools and with vulnerable and disengaged young people in the UK • Outreach - the trust works to share the gospel of Christ by supporting all aspects of Christian outreach both in the UK and overseas • Society - the trust believes people of faith bring a valuable contribution to social action and justice and support initiatives that have a positive impact in their society. Grants could support, for example: Counselling; night shelters; alcohol/drug rehabilitation; homelessness; or prison/ex-offenders work. Applicants must be registered with the Charity Commission. No minimum or maximum funding amounts are specified. The primary focus for grants allocated in 2021 will be on those organisations who actively share the Christian gospel in their work. The next closing date for applications is the 30th November 2021. More Information SOCIAL ENTERPRISE UNLTD GRANTS plus business support are available to social entrepreneurs that are looking to start or grow an existing social venture. The funding is being made available through the UnLtd, the leading provider of support to social entrepreneurs in and around the UK. The grants are being made available through two funding streams: • Grants of up to £15,000 to grow an existing social enterprise • Grants of up to £5,000 to start a new social enterprise. UnLtd are committed to providing 50% of their awards to Black, Asian and minority ethnic social entrepreneurs, and/or disabled social entrepreneurs. To be eligible applicants need to be: • Aged 16 and over • Living in the United Kingdom • Willing to participate in a learning experience • Working to benefit people living in the United Kingdom • Have a real social impact
• Fulfil a clear need and demand • Have clear outputs and goals The closing date for this funding round is the 30th September 2021. More Information HOUSING NEW £4 MILLION FUND LAUNCHED TO INCREASE COMMUNITY-LED AFFORDABLE HOUSING The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government has launched a new £4 million grant programme to increase community-led affordable housing. The Community Housing Fund Revenue Programme 2021 to 2022 will allow community-led housing groups in England (outside of the Greater London Authority area) to take responsibility for local housebuilding and help them to deliver housing that is affordable locally and remains under the control of the community. The grant will fund later stage pre-development and will help community groups meet a range of costs incurred such as paying for searches, administration costs, legal advice, design work and planning applications. The fund will remain open to applications until the 31st December 2021 or until all funds are allocated, whichever occurs first. More information EDUCATION THOMAS WALL TRUST - for Projects to Increase Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills Grants of up to £5,000 are available to registered charities (registered for at least 3 years) to assist with specific projects or core activities that support literacy, numeracy, digital and additional skills for people aged 11 or older in order to increase their employment prospects within the UK Annual repeat funding for up to 3 years – subject to satisfactory annual reviews of progress and impact. The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is the 27th September 2021. Grants will be awarded in November 2021. More Information THOMAS WALL TRUST - for Projects to Increase Employment Skills of People aged 18 and over Grants of up to £5,000 are available to registered charities to assist with specific projects or core activities which increase the communication skills of disadvantaged people aged 18 and over in order to increase their employment prospects within the UK. The funding is being made available through the Thomas Wall Trust to provide support for groups such women, people with physical, mental, or learning disabilities, refugees and asylum seekers. To be eligible, the charities applying for funding will need to have an annual income of £500,000 or less. Priority will be given to match-funded, sustainable projects. More Information
SMALLER, GENERAL GRANTS and COVID GRANTS ALPKIT FOUNDATION (UK) In response to the coronavirus, The Alpkit Foundation are prioritising funding to support projects that demonstrate an immediate impact on those affected by the crisis. Grants are available to grassroots organisations serving those affected by the outbreak. Funding can provide support for activities which might include helping vulnerable and elderly people who are self-isolating, supporting the homeless, providing access to food, medicines or social care, supporting foodbanks, increasing the number of meals on wheels deliveries, and bringing exercise indoors. Applications can be made at any time and will be checked on a daily basis. More Details VOLANT TRUST COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND The Volant Trust has announced that its Covid-19 Response Fund has opened for applications. The Trust is accepting applications from registered charities, community interest companies, community organisations or social enterprises in the UK and internationally that demonstrate a strong focus on alleviating social deprivation and helping vulnerable groups who have been particularly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Funding is available to support running and core costs as well as for medical equipment and the production or distribution of PPE will also be considered. There are no funding levels indicated at the award of grants will be at the discretion of the Trustees. The closing date for applications is the 31st December 2021. More Details THE PAT NEWMAN MEMORIAL TRUST – Grants are available to UK registered charities working in the UK and overseas with deprived people in financial hardship and victims of abuse. Makes grants to charities and organisations working to relieve poverty and its effects both in the UK and abroad and occasionally to individuals suffering financial distress. It also makes grants to charities and organisations working with the abused and deprived.” During the year ended 31 July 2020, the Trust awarded grants totalling £142,224. Also known as the Peter Storrs Charitable Trust, the P J F Storrs Charitable Trust. During the year ended 5 April 2019 grants totalling £149,000 were awarded. Although nominally grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available, the vast majority of awards tend to be for £2,000. Around two- thirds of all grants made are recurring, with one-third allocated to new applicants. Applications, which may be made in writing at any time, are considered every 3-6 months. THE NOT POINTLESS CHARITY – Small grants averaging £1,500 are available to UK registered charities working in the UK or overseas in the fields of children’s welfare, education, health, social justice and overseas projects. The Not Pointless Charity raises funds through the annual Glastonbury Festival. Funds are then allocated in the form of grants to “improve educational opportunities and advance the education of children and adults in the UK and worldwide by supporting health, social justice and other projects”. The Glastonbury Festival uses around 265 volunteer stewards each working approximately 20 hours, for which festival organiser Michael Eavis donates £5 per hour to Not Pointless. Grants, can range from relatively small amounts (c.£100) to around £5,000.
