October 7th 2021 2pm – 2:45pm How to write a compelling CV, win at assessments, and stand out from other applicants If you are planning to apply for an internship, industrial placement, grad scheme or a job, this talk will provide hints and tips to win that role. Speaker details: Tech Industry Gold alumnus Yasmin Martin has extensive experience applying for roles and recruiting graduates. Graduating from Queen Mary University London, Yasmin now works for Salesforce. She will share her insights on what tech employers are looking for in CVs, cover letters and application forms. October 14th 2021 2pm – 2:45pm Should we use image recognition to identify criminals? What standards and regulations should be in place when sharing medical data? Is the use of information we put on social media for voting purposes ethical? October 21st 2021 2pm – 2:45pm My pathway into Cybersecurity With almost all our personal data now stored online, cyber security attacks have the potential to completely ruin businesses – not to mention people’s lives. And with several high-profile attacks, companies are becoming increasingly concerned with any potential leaks that could occur. This means companies large and small are turning to cyber security professionals to help them keep their sites and their customers’ details safe. Find out what it takes to work in cyber, presented by Tech Industry Gold alumnus, Nathan Al-Shehab. Nathan Al-Shehab, Senior Cybersecurity Manager, Deloitte Tech Industry Gold alumnus Speaker details: Nathan is a Senior Manager in Deloitte’s Cyber Security consulting practice. He works with clients ranging from FTSE100 Watch Nathan’s video organisations through to privately owned business to help them understand and solve complex cyber challenges. Prior to Deloitte, Nathan has worked across consulting and industry. In 2012 he graduated with a Tech Industry Gold accredited degree (Information Management for Business) from University College London and has spent his career to date working in cybersecurity. 5
October 28th 2021 2pm- 2:45pm Let’s get creative about data and project management This talk will showcase various creative techniques to present data and how to extract transform and load information across multiple platforms using cloud-based services, multiple programming languages, and visualisation tools. Speaker details: Sam’s career began when he joined the Abbey National (Santander) Graduate scheme as a Bank Manager. Part of the course was to become a qualified mortgage adviser. He practised mortgage advise for several years, yet the role became more about sales than providing advice. He left the banking world and went to Australia for 12 months. When Sam returned to the UK, he secured a 3-month contract again working within banking. He took on several different roles from managing a team of Sam Cassidy, Software Test Manager, Intellica case handlers to being part of the Project Management Office. Along the way he discovered the enjoyment of finding answers within data using Excel and SQL. 6

November 18th 2021 2pm – 2:45pm Lipstick, Football and Tech With a varied career from working in pharmaceuticals, retail and football Christelle will share her journey about how tech is relevant across many sectors. Speaker details: Christelle was the IT Director of Arsenal Football Club, responsible for technology at the Club underpinning a very diverse business environment spanning football analysis of on-pitch games to retail operations. Prior to this role, Christelle was Head of IT Applications at Superdrug responsible for the support and development of its core systems and project delivery. Presented by Christelle Heikkila Christelle’s first industry role in IT was working at Sainsbury’s, her later years there being spent in their newly-created digital lab, an exciting time to be part of their digital revolution. Christelle started out her career as a pharmacist but transitioned to Accenture as a management consultant which put her on her eventual path to IT Director. 8
November 25th 2021 2pm – 2:45pm Tech for Good What does it take to set up your own tech business and not just any business, but a Tech for Good business? Matt will share his journey as founder of social enterprise Reason Digital and provide insights to supporting clients’ vital digital services. Speaker details: A champion of tech for good, Matt is one of the UK’s leading experts on changing lives with digital. Founder of social enterprise, Reason Digital and author of the 'Digital Fundraising Book', Matt has grown a team of 50 who, for more than a decade, have been delivering digital innovation for national and international charities such as Age UK, Macmillan, the Trussell Trust and BBC Children in Need as well as philanthropists and CSR leaders. During the coronavirus pandemic his team has been busy supporting charities and public sector organisations to deliver vital services in new digital ways. He’s spoken at Matt Haworth, co-founder & director, events and his work has been featured in publications around the world by the likes of the Reason Digital Guardian, Vice, British Computer Society, the BBC, and others. Matt’s passion and determination to harness technology for good hasn’t gone unnoticed with Matt’s work winning multiple awards including the Guardian Society Award for Digital Innovation, the Institute of Directors NW Director of the Year for Social Value and Sustainability, and Digital Entrepreneur of the Year at the Digital Entrepreneur Awards. 9
