TATA COFFEE CSR & SUSTAINABILITY POLICY Education Tata Coffee has always believed that through education and research, a nation can heighten its social awareness. In alignment with this belief, enabling access to quality education for the communities around our operations in Coorg and Annamalai has been an integral part of our organization for several years. Our education programs span various beneficiaries and age groups. Although designed initially to support families of our large workforce, our programs have gained scale to positively benefit communities outside the Tata Coffee family. By facilitating such programs for the community, we reaffirm our commitment towards larger societal development through education. Our education programs include: • Swastha • DARE • Merit Scholarships for students of Coorg and Annamalai • Promoting Education and Support for Children with Visual Disabilities • Skill Development for the underprivileged through sponsored training programs SWASTHA A separate and independent social wing, 'Coorg Foundation', was established by Tata Coffee in 1994 with the objective of promoting the welfare of the local community of Coorg, through economic, environmental and social initiatives. Swastha was created with support from the Coorg Foundation in 2003 with an aim to provide special education and rehabilitation to children who are differently-abled. Children at Swastha are also taught in basic skills of social communication, numeric, and language. Based on their capabilities, some students are trained in vocational skills to try and provide them a means of creating livelihood and being independent in society. The core objective of SWASTHA continues to be in striving to identify, train, and reintegrate children who are differently-abled back into mainstream society. Through Swastha, Tata Coffee aims to improve the quality of life of differently-abled individuals and enable them to achieve socio-economic independence with dignity and self-confidence. In support of this initiative, Tata Coffee procures all its office stationary that are made by the children at Swastha. Developmental Activities for Rehabilitative Education (DARE) In alignment with Swastha and our commitment towards rehabilitating children with special abilities, DARE School was set up in 1996 in the Annamalai region of Tata Coffee's operation. The objective of DARE School is to train differently-abled children to be self-reliant. The activities range from trainings in basic household chores to reading and basic mathematics. Children who exhibit greater capabilities are additionally trained in vocational skills that can enable them to be economically independent. 6

Apart from children of the employees, scholarships are also provided to children belonging to Affirmative Action groups. These scholarships are provided to students through the Coorg Foundation. Promoting Education and Support for Children with Visual Disabilities Tata Coffee in collaboration with the Karnataka Welfare Association supports a school for blind children in Bangalore. The training programs are conducted in partnership with local NGOs of the Theni region. 8
TATA COFFEE CSR & SUSTAINABILITY POLICY Health and Hygiene Tata Coffee recognizes the importance of health care services for the community especially in a region like Coorg where facilities are not easily accessible and available. The Rural India Health Project Trust (RIHP) was incorporated as an American - Indian Dispensary (AID) and subsequently developed into a hospital. However, owing to its remote location coupled with mushrooming of smaller nursing homes and private, the institute struggled to sustain itself. Tata Coffee then began supporting the Rural India Health Project Trust (RIHP) at Ammathi when the hospital was facing severe financial crisis with no external aid and insufficient local donations. To further enhance our efforts, the local community is educated on hygiene and prevention of illnesses. Several medical camps are carried out in medical specialization areas of ophthalmology, pre and post natal care etc. The services provided to the local community are at a largely subsidized rate which is further reimbursed through the Coorg Foundation. The Foundation also provides healthcare access to Coorg's remote hilly regions through mobile clinics. These clinics are operational with diagnostic equipment and staffed with a doctor and paramedics. 9
TATA COFFEE CSR & SUSTAINABILITY POLICY Environmental Sustainability At Tata Coffee, our business is predominantly dependent on natural capital. We acknowledge the advantages in integrating environmental sustainability our strategy, ranging from greater operational efficiencies and cost savings, to a more robust risk management process, enhanced sustainability credentials and reputation amongst stakeholders and potential employees. Tata Coffee believes that protecting and enriching the surroundings fosters integrated growth for people and our company. Our Environmental Sustainability initiatives include: ✓ Bio Fuels ✓ Renewable Energy ✓ Waste Management ✓ Water Conservation ✓ Wildlife Conservation ► Bio-Fuels With increasing energy requirement for the tea drying process, Tata Coffee started the use of biofuel in 2009 through Bio Briquettes, replacing the traditional use of firewood. Bio Briquettes have higher calorific value and hence are required in lesser quantity when compared to firewood, making production more economical, eco-friendly and independent of natural resources. At present Tata Coffee sources close to 70% of required energy through bio fuel sources and aims to continue increasing the quantity raised over the years to come. ► Renewable Energy Tata Coffee's Environmental Sustainability strategy focuses on utilizing renewable energy sources and providing energy security to our production units. About 20% of Tata Coffee's energy use comes from wind energy at the Theni factory with a long term strategy to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and increase the renewable energy usage. By sourcing renewable energy, carbon emissions have significantly reduced taking Tata Coffee a step forward to achieving carbon neutrality. Further, Tata Coffee aspires to obtain solar power for its freeze dried coffee production plant. ► Wildlife Conservation At Tata Coffee "Wildlife preservation and maintaining a healthy co-existence between wildlife and humans" is a key focus area. Wildlife is an integral part of the plantation ecosystem and Tata Coffee believes that environmental sustainability also encompasses protecting and preserving the diverse wildlife. Eco-friendly operations and water reservoirs make the plantation a conducive habitat for wildlife. Tata Coffee's effort to protect endangered Hornbills are being driven through the Hornbill Foundation - a registered trust established by Tata Coffee at Valparai. As a part of human elephant Conflict Program, Tata Coffee works closely with the forest officials, small and medium planters and other plantation workers through awareness and training programs to mitigate risks from wild elephants. 10
